It doesn't matter if he shot first. This dude pointed a firearm at police officers. It's not necessary under the law for him to actually shoot his gun in order to give those cops probable cause to defend themselves. Imagine a world where self-defense isn't justified until bullets actually start to fly.

I'm not seeing anything "him" having an actual weapon. (both family and police call him a "their") They were trespass-camping on a construction site to block workers. He peaked out of his tent when ordered to GTFO, then zipped it back up and told them to go away. Pepper ball(s) were fired into the tent. Then the claim is that gunfire was heard and the cops "returned fire".

It's never a good idea to engage in a standoff with armed police unless you're ready to die. They were expecting boobytraps, bombs, and armed resistance. Not only could they not "see his hands", they couldn't see what he was doing or holding in there. Very foolish move on his part.

Justification story depends on the gunshots. But really comes down to a "belief" there were gunshots. Whatever they heard, he put himself in a position where his life was hanging by a thread, then the thread couldn't hold his weight.

His tactics were a total fail, no matter which side you think was right.

He had a gun, forensically proven to be the one which fired a shot that injured a state trooper. Pictures of it were posted with earlier news articles.

Basic facts on case: Manuel Esteban Paez Teran was a biological male who participated in a series of disruptive protests planned by the communist revolutionary group "Antifa." When state troopers arrived to clear trespassing protestors from the future site of a police training facility, one of the troopers got shot. This caused the other troopers to return fire on the supposed aggressor, thus resulting in Teran getting shot 57 times.

It's important to note, the recent testing only indicates a lack of powder residue on his hands. That doesn't exactly shatter any narratives, given the event took place in winter and he was most likely wearing gloves. It's also important to note that if poor communication on the part of law enforcement truly did result in the wrong man being killed, that's something which could be addressed easily through better training. If only some sort of facility existed for the cops to train at.

Thanks. A brief search on his name didn't turn up any gun confirmations.
