This is a Forcepoint PR stunt.

The malware starts by disguising itself as a screensaver app that then auto-launches itself onto Windows devices.

They're leaving out a few details. Sounds like it needs to be given access to a machine ie installed. It's not difficult to write something that does what was described here, nothing mindblowing or dangerous or that would even be able to spread in the wild.

The only thing novel about this is it demonstrates that you can write some pretty basic code using chatgpt prompts, which we already knew.

This isn't some new super deadly hacker AI. It's just a journalist exaggerating a security firm's marketing blog.

The AI angle is overblown, and the attack is not novel, but it is a dangerous attack found in the wild. This is how Linus Tech Tips got hacked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYdS3FIu3rI

Why would somebody run a screen saver sent in email? Must be an idiot! Ah, it actually looks really easy to fall for. You can watch the first 3 minutes of the video I linked for what it looks like on the receiving end.

Good watch, and I agree with what you said. I think my comment still stands but I enjoyed learning about the scr attack.

They've been "warning" of a cyber 9-11 for a while now and this is probably just cover for something they were going to release themselves.
