They're acting like the band is gonna be buying Bud & JD every night on tour when it's actually the venue - who technically do not have to provide any alcohol for free for the bands because it's not a necessity like water or food. Venues do this all the time if the band is a well known party band (ie: Mötley Crue) because it's their house, their rules. The bands can pay for their own liquor. If the band refuses to perform because they're not getting free shit, then the venue can fine them up to 3 times the amount the band was guaranteed - meaning if a band was supposed to make $100k for a show and refused to play, the venue can fine them up to $300k because they didn't complete the contract.
This is why you rarely hear about bands and acts canceling shows unless a member is really sick or has a family emergency - and most of the time the bands still have to make up the date(s) they missed.
