I loved my older Windows 7 laptop that thing was built like a tank. They should've never taken away the 2 front mouse clicker buttons on newer laptops. I hate how they go into sleep mode and you cant find the button to turn them off. And downloading apps and tools is a pain in the ass as is downloading movies and pictures.
And they don't come with anti virus pre installed and i don't know what sites to download some from that are honest and don't want to risk infection because with my old Lenovo Windows 7 laptop it came with a disc drive and the guys at best buy gave me free Kaspersky anti virus on a disc so i miss disc drives and disc based anti virus. I cant risk visiting all my favorite websites like porn websites and image based websites and that one hindi website with all the pirated movies or anime pirate sites or else i'll get infected and with my old Lenovo Windows 7 laptop i could turn it off and turn it on and the viruses dissapeared and it worked again (don't ask me how that worked plus i had anti virus so i was safe anyway) and if you turn off newer laptops or close them so they go into sleep mode they virus don't go away and stick around and shut all your machines functions down.
And i'm pissed at Google for limiting Google photos storage to 15 GB for new uploads i downloaded so much to mine to try to keep it forever at least for now they're not deleting what you have but who knows how long that'll last. I miss Windows 7. It had better menus, more functions, and they were easier to use. Windows after 7 blows and so do laptops. Now i just mostly use the PS4's internet browser. That thing is still awesome.
Fuck Bill Gates, install Linux Mint and never look back, and stop wasting your time on all that loser shit anyway. if you're getting viruses from porn and anime you fucking deserve it
I've been thinking about giving PopOS a try if I ever get my gaming laptop fixed. I understand it can run most games without any additional configuration, which, with a dual-boot setup, means I won't have to upgay the Windows 7 install the machine came with.
If you want to stick with windows, you can try Bitdefender or AVG for antivirus. I have my kids all using Linux Mint with the Mate desktop. Mint with XFCE is more of a win95 feel to it, but I wouldn't recommend that right off the bat. You can download the iso file from Mint, then use a small program called YUMI to make a bootable USB stick. This allows you to try it out without erasing Windows. The if you like it, you can install.
Hey thanks buddy! We are RC, sometimes latin mass, part of the church militant. I do agree with you about St Augustine. His story gives hope to the rest of us. From playboy single dad to world's greatest saint! He is (arguably) the precursor to the great philosophers of Greece and the beginning of western civilization. Anyway, I like seeing your username as well, just cause I have assumed you are RC from previous posts/interactions here.
Most Catholics don't recognize the importance of Jesus himself, so it's no surprise they don't understand Augustine, Ambrose, Thomas Aquinas, etc. I've struggled through Confessions. I'm not all that intellectual or intelligent, more of a practical hands on guy. My next read is probably going to be G. K. Chesterton's Father Brown. I've heard good things, but we'll see...
Everything after win7 has been based in Israel. Low IQ kikes ruin everything and even crash US spacecraft onto the moon. We spoon feed them everything and they manage to destroy everything. The jews are the niggers of the Middle East.
Avast! antivirus' free version has worked well for me, and there are browser extensions that can greatly reduce your risk from visiting dodgy sites (NoScript, pop-up blockers, AdBlock, VirusTotal, for instance (that last one works really well if you equip an open-new-tab-in-background extension -- just let it run in the background till it finishes.))
Also, you can run multiple OS's on a single machine using dual-boot, so there's no reason you can't still run Windows 7.
Edit: Can't believe I forget to recommend the archive.today extension; that let's you right-click search an archived version of a site that will have a lot of scripts and various shit filtered out.

I dropped off to Debian (everything is old and shitty) after Win2k and haven't looked back since. All new installs are Mint Mate or XFCE.

You'd probably like it better than Cinnamon or XFCE. Unless you really miss the 98 or XP era.
Budgie is another one where refugees from Windows are likely to feel at home.
