What kind of toilet do you have? Mine doesn't have a continuous water flow, so surfaces above the water line get totally dry.

A toilet bowl cleaning brush with powdered 'Ajax' seems to work just fine for cleaning it. What is this all about?

I use it because it disinfects, and prevents bacterial growth; which water alone cannot do. Looking clean, and actually being clean, are two completely separate things.

I pay for the convenience of having a bottle that shoots gooey gel at an upward angle underneath the bowls rim, making it super easy to clean.

The alternative is not pleasant.
