The Running Man predicted it.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress had an AI that created fake audio and video.

There is literally a Mission Impossible episode about what we now call deepfakes. It seemed a little farfetched at the time, but I liked that show.

Literally though?

*LITERALLY!!!!1*

I wish I could remember the name of the episode, but it's been like four decades or so since I saw it. I thought it was pretty farfetched at the time, but now it's just a thing... which is a thing. They should rerun that show again.

The Running Man (1987) predicted Deep Fake when they matted Arnie onto Jesse Ventura being impaled.

1993 rising sun

And more...

You see.. the nature of technology is our little ape brains explode if it is given too much too fast.

So we have to dream it, speak it, try to build it, and then it magically appears from aliens and a jew takes over steering it for the ape masses.

Facebook was nearly unbearable for the apes they just barely survived it. These are the same apes unable to SEE a tallship because it was completely outside of their belief system. This is why some colonials were mistaken for gods or demons.

It takes about twenty years of predictive programming before you soft little head is ready for a taste of the real world. Just a taste though. Or you'll go mad.

Everyone thinks listing a counterexample to the idea that it was never done, as if it discounts my whole post. I'm saying it's not part of daily life of all or even the majority of futuristic media

Shows never considered deep fakes? I can think of a few plot lines that revolve around fake videos with a face being digitally meshed onto someone else. Some of these are not even sci-fi which demonstrates that we collectively did not even think this was far off in the future but a plausible plot line for a contemporary setting.

Rising Sun (1993)

But it would have to be a part of daily life and a consideration constantly present for it to count. That's what I'm saying
