Tesla drops prices to qualify buyers for $7,500 tax credit

US government subsidising Elon to sell his shitty electric toys. While providing rich hipsters a nice tax break. Saw it before with obummer's cash for clunkers allowing wealthy people to unload their used car for a new SUV.

That tax credit is based on the individual trying to buy the car and their income.

The lower the income, the more the government is willing to give.

Tesla's biggest problem is they are awful at customer retention. The people who have money have or had one and have moved onto another style of Power Wheels. Got to cheapen the product if the demand isn't strong anymore.

Got to cheapen the product if the demand isn't strong anymore.

There's also the fact that these things aren't meeting the demands of the modern vehicle owner.

300(closer to 150) mile range? Can't turn over when it's cold as fuck? Can't pull a bunch of shit, gas/charge up and then haul the boys back from work? How many kids you gonna haul in that thing? Which of you fuckers is gonna fix it when it breaks down?

The fact of the matter is, is that it's too expensive to buy, too expensive to run, and too expensive to maintain. And the maintenance requires much more than the average wrench-turner's experiance, and that's only if it's out of warranty.

It's too complex and too expensive for the average person living an average life. And it just doesn't do enough.

Your average $2,000 beater truck and a box of tools is a better investment.

2k beater trucks don't exist anymore.

Yeah, it sucks. I remember $500 beaters that would work for a year with a bit of maintenance before becoming too expensive to repair being a regular thing you could do. Now, getting something under $3,000 takes a herculean effort of searching, calling, and no-shows.

Would be cool to disassemble out the self driving computer, cameras, and sensors, and install it on my regular car. Throw the rest away.
