worthless electric 'cars'

[ - ] localsal 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 19:21:40 ago (+0/-0)

That's hilarious because all the retarded EV owners kept saying "oh, it'll be perfectly fine in the cold"

until they get stranded in a snowstorm like last year, or get hit with a massive cold wave like this year.

LOL

faggoty-assed fancy golf carts, I hope they all explode

EVs are a joke that idiots are playing on themselves and it's freaking hi-larious to the rest of us. Thank you each and every one, you touched, sanctimonious, virtue signaling idiots.

CoViD is the same deal, except people are dying. In droves. So it's even funnier.

At least the idiots fund further research into EVs. I can see limited use for such things in controlled environments like bubble-towns on other planets/asteroids/space stations. Any time you have to leave one however, you will need real power.

EV's are retarded as well as any idiot who purchases one.

This problem could probably already be solved, yet the government shutdown the research of Solid State hydrogen due to it being a disruptive technology.

How many other transformational technologies have they shut down. Fucking gubamint cock suckers!

Solid state hydrogen is overhyped trash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8NQkOeRNpg

Granted, on watching that, it would seem absurd. I had not read too much into the solid state hydrogen, but he put forth pretty convincing evidence to the contrary.

However, it would still not significantly change my mind about a fcev(fuel cell) over a ev/bev(battery electric). Toyota and Honda seem to be the only companies looking into this.

The fact of the enormous amount of resources it takes to process for a single battery is staggering, and they are not using "green" technology for that.
https://archive.is/UhFcN#selection-1985.0-1989.278

Not to mention the amount of load that would be required on our current electrical system, where the first thing they tell you is not too charge your car. Not to mention the fact that your charge in cold weather can decrease by %50, and they would need to have infrastructure to warm your batteries in cold weather climates. WTF?

For the most part, I believe the only vehicle at this time that would even make sense is the hev/ hybrid. The phev (plug able hybrids) have been seen to be worse that ice already, and even there, I would avoid that shit like the plague in a cold weather environment.

Worst case scenario, and I am not discounting the issues with hydrogen, especially with transport & production, but that seems a more logical way to move forward if we are going to continue with this charade, at the very least, you could potentially generate the turquoise hydrogen with nuclear if you were truly concerned about the environment, Instead of subsidizing these crappy ass technologies, why not subsidize nuclear / hydrogen, with the understanding that we would like to progress further with cleaner technology in the future.

So with that, I will stick with my point that EV is not the future, even with the rate of advances that they have had with battery technology.

Aluminium-air batteries are the best solution - but enable DIY / cottage gas stations.

Aluminium air battery would give an ev anywhere between 500-1000 miles range, in all weather's. The problem, is that the battery cannot be recharged with electricity.

Instead, the battery must be recharged chemically (by submerging) - however this could be done in your garage / garden.

The batteries on the cars would need to be swappable.

At a certain point, the power in the battery won't be enough to heat it up to the point where it could provide the power to turn on the vehicle, let alone to run, and keep it running, for any length of time.

The damned things already take in enough energy to charge the enormous battery bank, having to heat that shit at the same time would max out the line. And you run into the same problem. At some point it gets so cold that you spend more energy heating the batteries than you do to charge them.

There just isn't enough energy available to run electric vehicles in very cold temperatures. This is why chemical energy is, at least for now, superior. Remember that heating and movement are the most energy dependent electrical processes.

I am glad that there are electric vehicles out there again. This allows us to finance further research into such things via idiot consumers. What I don't like is the gov getting involved and trying to control such via printed money pumped into the corpos in charge of such things.

Wait you have to heat the battery to charge it?

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 20:33:38 ago (+0/-0)

Charging a lithium ion battery at those kind of temperatures is an almost guaranteed way to fuck them up.

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 1 point 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 20:48:06 ago (+1/-0)

Li-Ion batteries suck. They have a high energy density but only because they are seemingly a breeze away from exploding at any given time.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 21:12:39 ago (+0/-0)

Absolutely.
Which brings up another important point: because of the issue of spontaneous combustion/explosion, EV's are not to be stored inside an attached garage, meaning those without the option of building a dedicated charging garage that is insulated and heated (read: renters and most anyone subject to building codes) are fucked.

I won't buy one until batteries change. I'm glad I got kind of a good model of car, although it's already 10 years old. But I think I might be able to maintain it with aftermarket parts and stuff.

Teslas have battery heaters.
I mean, we are talking about a car that would have been considered magic 100 years ago. You think the engineers can't figure out how to heat a battery?

I mean, I'm not exactly a Tesla fan boy or anything. But conservatards are called conservatards for a reason. I'm glad you fuckers aren't in charge of designing infrastructure.

He doesn't have a tesla. All he has is something he heard from that banjo playing kid in Deliverance.

[ - ] chrimony 1 point 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 14:26:02 ago (+1/-0)

Tesla fanboy, hoo boy. They are the Apple of electric cars.

[ - ] FacelessOne 2 points 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 14:40:02 ago (+2/-0)

Engineer a heater for batteries. Doubles as oven for kikes.

[ - ] pickingrinninspittin 1 point 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 15:55:25 ago (+1/-0)

But has Tesla made 6 million cars yet?

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 2, 2023 22:41:28 ago (+0/-0)

FYI electric cars were invented 100 years ago. Not magic.

They sucked back then, too.

The electric car was more or less developed at the same time as the ICE car. People would try anything to get going.
