Nuclear Science

submitted by prototype to science 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2022 02:33:35 ago (+2/-0)     (science)

Just to start, the shotgun type bombs dropped on heroshima and nagagaski fired the slug at about 300 m/s.

And I was thinking about this.

Hypothetically you could heat the necessary metals till molten, and then cavitate them using high frequency sonication.
Vacuum bubbles or cavities in liquid collapse at 370+ m/s (if my figures are correct).
More than enough for the shotgun effect.

Why wouldn't this be possible as a nuclear fission mechanism?

I've read about the demon core, how does that apply to this?
