Everything about modern pet owners is cringe.

You don't get a pet anymore, you "rescue" one, or bring one to its "forever home."

Pets don't die, they "cross the rainbow bridge".

I had to shoot video for a dog's birthday party once. A birthday party. For a dog. With a bunch of other dogs in attendance. Exactly like a little kid's birthday party. (the dog's owner was a Penthouse published model though...)

I've had pets all of my life, and in the last couple of years I've really started questioning how worth it it actually is. Sure it's nice to pet and play with a dog, and I'll grudgingly admit that a sweet cat can be nice sometimes, but for fuck's sake the amount of bullshit you have to deal with compared to the positives... It's almost like animals weren't meant to live in your house and follow human rules or something.

It’s sad that recently a normal family I know celebrated their dog’s birthday. I was quite surprised because they are normal people with children. Maybe their little girls made me do it like a tea party. Who knows. At least they didn’t invite any other dogs. But they had a cake which I’m not sure the dog ate. Whatever!

I saw a reddit post a while back where a woman boasted about how her mom kept her handmade baby things (boots, bonnet etc.) for her to give to her grandchildren, but she used them for her puppy instead and decided not to have kids.

It was the saddest thing I've ever seen. She's practically too old to change her mind too.

My sister gave me her cat which her man abused and made into a paranoid cat that would hiss and bite anyone because that's what happens when you hit cats. She didn't want the cat attacking her child, so she basically dumped her on me. She said she'd take care of the food and cat litter, that I wouldn't have to pay to maintain her. That was a fucking lie, she straight up abandoned her. I turned her from an aggressive biter, to a sweet cat that gives love bites.

I rather have someone dote on their pet than abuse them because of their own unresolved trauma. Pets are innocents, they are at your mercy and abusing or attacking them to discipline them means you're a fucking psychopath, and deserve every bad thing that happens to you.
