There was a story arc during Tom Baker's Doctor Who series where the President/leader had to sit in an electric chair for each drop election, and every household had a set of buttons -- yes or no -- with mandatory voting.
When the vote was cast, the chair would administer an amount of current proportional to the percent of citizens that voted against the measure.

I don't think you are serious, but the real solution is to remove money from the government.

if they don't get to give boeing $1T for some project then their kids aren't going to be placed on the board of boeing (or whatever benefits they get from their actions). The end result is that people who care will be the only people trying to be in power, and they will be looking for solutions.

Republicanism is just mob rule plus corruption. Just because it's more complicated doesn't mean it solves any problems with raw democracy. It only adds additional ones. You could even make it so that any law, policy, or action proposal could be put to a vote and decided, along with all the other options potentially voted upon.
