I'm guessing he lives in one of the awful parts of California, like the bay area, or LA region. Lots of reasons to live on the California coast, if you're in the right demographic.

You'd have trouble keeping kids away from degeneracy. You wouldn't want to be an employee or own an 'official' business. It's expensive af. (average 2 br apt = $4600, average house = $1.4 million) Tons of people are retarded, in the leftist sense. Different from conservative retards, but just as annoying. You can grow your own tomatoes and marijuana if you prefer that to store-bought. Organic foods are plentiful, as well as alternatives to conventional grocery stores. There are still very few niggers, although for my first 30 years here there were zero. Still, way better than many places where voaters live.

If you don't mind weather extremes, there are conservative/red areas inland, much cheaper than the coast. You'd still want to avoid involving the state with your income and finances. (and anything, really)
