Also check out Gustave Dore's bible illustrations. I consider these to be Michelangelo tier if not higher. They're practically an additional book of the Bible I'd name "Figures". Wikipedia has a list of all for your viewing.

It should be noted that Michelangelo considered himself foremost a sculptor not a painter. He didn't really want to do that ceiling.

That's beautiful, would love to have it in my collection. How did you acquire it? On antiques roadshow, they occasionally have old religious texts and some of them are valued for thousands.

Did some searching on it. From what i found out, in perfect condition it would be worth about $600. Mine in it's partly restores, rough condition not more than $200 (Canadian pesos at that). Doesn't seem to be all that rare, still a nice addition to the family collection of old books.

Thanks for the follow-up. I'm pretty surprised at that low amount, considering the craftsmanship that went into it. Doesn't it say wood and steel-engraved prints? Nevertheless, great find and glad it means something to you.
