They say they're hiring new employees but they keep giving him overtime. He hasn't said a peep about the votes dumped into these blue boxes. This is how he lies in particular so I'm suspicious
I use to work as a delivery contractor that brought all the bullshit you kids order online to the post office. Huge pallets of every kind of junk from Amazon to Amway. I learned first hand how inner workings of the post office operate and it is fucked up from the top down. It's literally designed to fail. Damn near everything they do is intentionally done in the most inefficient method possible and costs more than it should. Plus the employees are all ruled over by a federal union. You aren't allowed to do work outside of your job description even when shit is backed up. One guy runs the dock, his only job is to pull freight inside the building. Another guy sorts the freight and distributes it to the carriers stations. The janitor is the only one allowed to take out the trash, etc.etc. Most of them would spend more time dicking around then working. The supervisors were the worst, they would dictate contradicting rules that cancel each other out and cause even more work to not get done. Then when everything is fucked up as can be, they would give themselves overtime and stand around making sure nothing got done while making double time and a half. There is a reason "going postal" is synonymous with losing your shit and killing everyone. That place is a soul crusher with good pay and great benefits
Can you expand on that? My uncle has 100s of thousands of dollars inexplicably missing and he has NOTHING to show for it but a 40k mortgage that he's had for 21 years
Yeah, that's not how it works. City carriers punch a clock, and they are only allowed a certain number of hours a year, per their contract.
Second, the carriers themselves dont set their routes, and they have timestudies and mail counts annually to determine if a route is overburdened.
Postmasters are dinged and have to justify every OT hour to the district, and they have weekly meetings with all postmasters in that district to review the OT, the no shows, the mis scans, etc.
In addition, the scanners they have now are GPS real-time trackers, and if the scanner is not moving, it tracks that. They cant just stop in middle of route for an hour or two, as their scanner will tattle on them.
Which is assessed by the hours it takes on a route and those figures are brought forward from the previous year for the consideration of how long it will take a route.
Wrong, that's Rural routes that are based on the evaluated time. In addition, as the routes get added to, edit books get submitted to the district to add time to it, and once it hits 47 hours, it gets sent to office to adjust routes down to a 42 hour route.
This may vary per area depending on how long the letter carriers have been colluding to show a frequent need for overtime but a non-population dense area making adding more to the headcount not a viable option.
This is incorrect. They go to what is called an 'Auxiliary route' which is a part-time route, but filled by an assigned carrier. The rurality of the area does not determine the headcount, the evaluation of the route does. Say a small town PO has 2 routes that evaluate at a 46. Then they get growth where both go to a 48 or 49. These are considered 'overburdened routes', and OT is allowed at that point. But it allows them to create that auxiliary route that a PT person (non-career) can fill in the meantime. They would cut both permanent routes to a 42, and create a 14 Auxillary. A RCA might run this route on top of being the offday and Sunday Amazon delivery person since it is a short route.
This part is new to me and wasn't this way 12 years ago so I don't know anything about it.
Wife is a RC and also is the route management person at her office, and her best friend is a Postmaster, as is another of our Saturday group. A couple other RCs, a city carrier, and 2 clerks join us. I know WAY more about the fucking post office than I ever wanted to know. I have to hear them bitching about ti every week for 3-4 hours.
They are hiring anyone that will show up right now. You have to take a civil service exam specific for the post office, and if you are ex-military, you get bonus points added on. I would also assume that you get points added on for being female and Negro, otherwise I cant see how any would ever get hired. They are not very smart. The test is basically looking at some numbers and streets and spotting incorrect ones. 35447 Margot is different than 35447 Mangrove, for example. Or 35477 Margot is different than 35447 Margot. That kind of shit, to see if you can read an address that looks similar but different and deliver to the right one.
If in the rural area, you start as an RCA (or equivalent) and then as fulltime positions open up, you get moved up. Depending on the office, though, RCAs might work more hours than regulars. Clerk jobs, I believe are hired in at full or PT, as are City carriers.
Would love for someone to dig through the inspector general reports to compare the productivity (labor hours used versus mail volume) of the diverse areas to homogeneous ones.
This invalidates everything you could possibly mean, and it's why boomers deserve contempt. Just die already you idiot. Thank fuck death happens to everyone

These new employees quit immediately or just can't do the job. It's a revolving door trying to keep new hires.

The only person I can imagine saying something so off topic (no implication of what you're saying has an affect on the post) and tersely is a boomer.
Further, leave it to a boomer to say "make me millions" while this kind of shit is in play https://www.voat.xyz/viewpost?postid=631d1e3bb20e3&commentid=631e1cf535009
