It was also the maiden voyage of the largest and most luxurious ship in the world.

Of course those people were on board. The Titanic disaster isn't like 9/11 - We have first hand accounts from hundreds of people and it's been studied for many years.

There's an entire movie made in the 1940s about how the disaster was the result of gross negligence to please some rich people. And by gross negligence I mean there was a suit standing next to the captain telling him to fuck safety or lose his job.

It's a German movie, but it was banned in Germany before it could release. Go figure.

Yeah you are pretty close to the money .. it was bravado on the part of the Managing Director of White Star Line that caused the sinking, not a Bomb, JP Morgan nor the Mummy's Curse.

J Bruce Ismay Chairman & Managing Director of the White Star Line was a passenger on board Titanic when it sank .. there had been a big party going on, Captain Smith could not be aroused from sleep," the officer of the watch was asleep and quite possibly drunk at the rear of the pilothouse."

If you look into other ocean liner disasters over the 100 years prior to Titanic, You'll see just how many were caused by sheer stupidity or arrogance.

There was one company that forced its ships to always travel at full speed no matter what.
