P-38 is small enough it can pass through a metal detector unnoticed if it’s on a necklace or something.

Kiked companies mass producing garbage made from there

my kuhn rikon side opener has lasted a good 8 years for me. i like it because you can reuse the lid as a cover if you aren’t going to use the whole can

if you don’t want to fuck around and have the space to install one, get a commercial grade edlund

[ - ] ParnellsUprising 2 points 2.8 yearsAug 16, 2022 20:16:09 ago (+2/-0)

I bought an electric that had me so fucking pissed off, I threw it out the fucking door, then proceeded to go out and smash that piece of shit to bits.

So, anyways, I buy another hand held off of amakike, and sure enough after a few weeks I’m about to throw another conniption, and wifey comes out with an edlund, and says use this. ( Guess she knows me)

Install it, and that fucker works beautifully, no more smashing can openers in the yard. I guess it better after I looked up the price.

Stainless steel, replacement parts, yeah, I’ll pay for it.

I've had the same trouble. I've never had a can opener that lasted more than a year before going fubar, including the expensive ones I bought. I have a few P-38s, just for back-ups, and I have several knives with can openers, but they won't do when you just want to do the job without a lot of fuss.

I bought a side-cut can opener, they type that allows you to replace the lid back on the can (handy for dog food). It's been working for over a year with no signs of breaking down, slipping gears, or grinding in place.

But I'm not getting rid of my P-38s. Ever.

I've actually ranted this exact same rant, just recently.

Growing up, we had the same can opener, one of the old style ones that is attached to the wall with a big crank on it. Decades, decades we used it.

Recently tried all THREE can openers in the drawer, just trying to open a can of tuna. Got two holes poked on opposite sides of the lid and had to bend the top back manually to try to scoop it out.

Freaking ridiculous.

Bugs won't come in cans.

I have had this can opener for over 10 years now, still works like new.

China did this because jews wanted to save a penny.

Have you niggers never opened canned goods with a knife before? Its not hard at all.

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 16, 2022 22:50:21 ago (+0/-0)

there is only one can opener, it's called "Swing-A-Way" and you can buy them for less than $20. Every other can opener design is a joke. even the new chink-made ones are fine.

Weird, haven't had any can openers go bad. Recently added one of those side scroller can openers to the collection.

Have two conventionals kicking around in the drawer for probably 20 years. Just looked at the cutting wheels with a loupe. Farberware cutting wheel looks okay, with some slight nicks. The other is Bar... something, offbrand, and cutting wheel looks scalloped from all the chips. Still opens cans with no noticeable difficulty.

I'm guessing they've stopped heat treating the cutting wheels, if they ever did. Maybe a cheaper metal?

I've also had this happen, and I agree with you generally about the decline in quality. I have a can 'tapper' in the drawer. You can poke several holes along the seam, and then use tin snips to finish it off. It's not convenient, but it works if you are in a pinch. I had green bean casserole duty this past Thanksgiving, and my regular can opener took a shit.

#10 is hilarious

https://files.catbox.moe/mlco19.jpg

It was Puerto Rico in 2017 and we were maybe into the 2nd month of not having electricity and my daughter never having known a world without an electric can opener broke the manual can opener.

I'll be damned if I was going to run a generator and waste gas to run a can opener and asked both neighbors if I could borrow theirs knowing these people don't use can openers but hoping maybe they had advanced in technology. I mean they had washing machines now surely they would have can openers.

But alas they only had knives. So after one of their daughters showed me how to open a can with a knife the next day I attempted to open a can of la costena refried beans that a friendly helicopter had dropped off ( thank you ) with my Tojiro chef's knife and it broke.

So I struggled for a few days using my now fucked up knife mangling cans.

I even tried that rubbing it on the cement method in that video that didn't work.

And then a box came with a p- 38 and everything was good. Until it rusted. (maybe those ones came from China)

But then the heavens opened up and dropped down a P 51 that was so much easier to use and didn't rust. Because it was superior to that other runty one or maybe because I treated that can opener like a Faberge egg.

I also did that pliers one in the video on a can of corned beef when I completely messed it up with the key. It took awhile but it worked.

Some of those are a bit messy; you definitely don't want to end up eating metal dust. A clean cut is best
