Long time ago I used to live on a sailboat. The toilet was flushed by stepping on a lever on the bottom of the toilet so it sucked in seawater to rinse the bowl, and mashed up the crap and pumped it out a pipe thru the side of the boat under the water line. If you went on deck you see a brown cloud spreading in the water. If you were anchored in a bay or lagoon hoards of fish would race toward the brown cloud to gobble it up. I quit eating fish.

Those fish also attract sharks. It wasn't uncommon for pirate ships to have a gaggle of sharks swarm the bow, where the crew would shit.

That's weird and gross. But it makes a kind of sense.

And it's not as gross as china is as an entire nation now.
