They want to control the nitrogen game fully and completely.

The problem is where do insects get nitrogen from? From eating plants the same way cows do. Getting rid of fertilizer is still going to underfeed humanity on nitrogen no matter what intermediary it passes through. But they don't mind. Green energy doesn't need to be practical in replacing fossil fuels. The demand that they be used is enough for them to make money. Bugs don't actually need to make up the nitrogen gap. There will still be demand for the solution they provide when the nitrogen gap exists.
