When you learn their whole family tree you learn that they are actually mutts from everywhere except Israel. They have Mongolian, Turk, Greek, Slav, and Germanic since they eventually settled in western Europe. Even the small portion that is middle eastern is more Arab than Jewish. They are a mix of various ostracized merchant ethnicities from every corner of the planet. Every group of people had an "other" group that traveled and traded and kept to themselves. They all eventually mixed because they all travel, and Ashkenazi are one admixture of that. The Khazar who were Turkic and a little Oriental picked up Judism from trading in Persia. A few of them traveled and settled in Greece and found some similarity between themselves and a few of the more corrupt merchant families there. Convinced some of them to turn Jewish. Then they moved to Eastern Europe and picked up Slavic grammar and also swapped some more genes with Oriental traders as well. Then migrated westward and picked up Germanic nouns and genes (Yiddish is Slavic grammar and Germanic vocabulary).

You've got to feel for the Palistinians and understand how they connect with the whole white colonizer narrative when a bunch of reject Europeans invade and claim the middle east is their homeland. Who are ironically more Arab than Jewish themselves. When the Palestinians likely have more real Jewish blood themselves considering they are partially the same Samaritans we hear about in the New Testament who were half Jewish half Arab at that time. So now they've got to be like 95% Arab 5% Jewish which is still more Jewish than Ashkenazis.
