You have to understand that if things go haywire not only do you need to be aware of former cops BUT YOU HAVE TO SEEK THEM OUT. Trust me on this and I'll partially tell you why, you may or may not believe me.

Very, very few police officers become cops to help people. We're talking about 1 out of 100 that genuinely do. Sure some say it, others even go so far as going through the motions to be perceived as the good guy but that's not why they become cops.

They become cops for the power they get and boy do they get addicted to it. So what you have is a group of people who genuinely believe they are the right hand of God, are well trained, fear being separated from the loyal pack comingling together with the same goal and weapons to boot.

They are your enemy no matter how much they beg and plead. They have to go, all of them. Or don't.......and suffer the consequences.

Those are still the criteria I use for anyone I allow to get close to me. I don't like talking to anyone who can't express himself without using a lot of vulgarity. A good rule of thumb is the larger the vocabulary, the higher the intelligence. But that's not set in stone. Anyone who can express himself clearly, as you said, is preferable to someone who is inarticulate, no matter how intelligent.

Choice of language is important. Speaking honestly, ignoring political correctness, and not using euphemisms are also good indicators. This is also a good sign of ideology. You want someone who's closer to the right than the left. Fortunately, leftists and liberals self-identify with everything they do, say, or wear.

The only apocalyptic scenario I could see being like this would be after a nuclear war, or for a relatively short time after an EMP or geomagnetic storm (power grid failure, economic failure)
