Yeah, I’m not a tech wizard and I can barely figure out how to post here. I buy futures in food and precious metals, lead and brass.

I didn't even know Bitcoin existed before 2018. Interesting that it's been around for a decade now.
Still seems like a shit investment. But, let's be real, things are worth as much as people are willing to pay for them. If anything, increasing media coverage probably is what caused the boom to happen in the first place.
Along with misinformation about it being untraceable or whatever.

Wouldn't surprise me if some kikes had been invested since day 1 and just slipped some money into the accounts of media groups to push the shit and drive prices up.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 13, 2022 07:13:05 ago (+0/-0)

enron shares were an 'investment' they were dodgy but they had things like... assets and liquidity.

crypto is just a flat out ponzi no matter how many angles you look at it from. nothing backs it but the money that idiots put into it. no work is produced. no product is produced. and there is a new scam breaking every second day.

[ - ] o0shad0o 1 point 2.0 yearsMay 12, 2022 17:48:29 ago (+1/-0)

I expect, in the not-so-far future, major changes will be made to the internet that will make it impossible for p2p networks to form. This will be done in order to prevent p2p blockchain from operating, as well as i2p and TOR. BitTorrent (a project I was involved in) will also die, and the anti-piracy aspect of the changes will be touted heavily, though they don't really care about it.

Once this happens it will drastically impact crypto. While it may not kill it entirely, the end result will be its taming and government control will be enforced.

[ - ] Rotteuxx 1 point 2.0 yearsMay 12, 2022 18:50:29 ago (+1/-0)

Pierre Poilievre, slated to be Trudeau's successor in 2 years as Con party leader, has been pushing it & normalizing crypto non-stop since the convoy while at the same time the fed govt instructed its monkeys to prepare for the implementation of a federal crypto... the writing is on the wall.

Bitcoin & co will be labeled tools to finance terrorists & illegal activities, eventually it will either be made illegal or unusable.

Bitcoin has 1MB blocks. It is transferred via radio and dial-up and satellite with no ip addresses. If it somehow became segmented, when communication resumed the longest chain would win and it would keep going and anyone using lightning in channels created before segmentation wouldn't even notice it happen.

[ - ] o0shad0o 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 13, 2022 09:29:34 ago (+0/-0)

If it somehow became segmented

If it became segmented it would become impossible to verify your transaction went through unless you were certain your transaction was on the longest chain. That turns your making transactions into gambling, which doesn't work well for functionality. That would also disrupt lightning backers to the point where they would have to withdraw or risk their own settlements be unwound. There will always be alternatives for communications but they're much harder to use which also impacts functionality. If one of those methods gets popular it will also get stepped on. This is a war for the control of the economy and crypto will always be targetable because of the communications requirements.

[ - ] zr855 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 13, 2022 10:39:54 ago (+0/-0)

This is mostly true. It's real hard to segment a 1mb blockchain. Also, with lightning, watchtowers could still verify all chains but you're even more reliant on the watchtowers. The chance of those on the other end of the channel losing all their money for shenanigans is real so it's not gambling but still more centralized trust.

Still, real hard to segment a 1mb block size every 10 minutes.

Where's the user that shills for everyone to get into crypto ??
He'll have something to say about this.

[ - ] zr855 1 point 2.0 yearsMay 12, 2022 19:21:23 ago (+3/-2)

That's probably me. Go to the link. Op is right. Bitcoin has been "dead" a ton of times in the past. It's the whole point of the link.

Everyone should use crypto to buy, sell and trade. US dollars are created by jew banks and you can't win if you use your enemy's money. I don't give two shits if you "invest". Hell, the Strike app looks pretty good to me. Get in, get out pay for things all behind the scenes with no investment. Point is to not rely on their system which they fund BLM, etc. with.

I also remember being like 13 and ordering a shitload of cd's for a penny, and never buying the rest I was supposed to. Or actually having to get on my bicycle to go find where everyone was hanging out because pagers "beepers" weren't even a thing. Fuck i hate this country now.

I used to think that until I started using lightning and realized all the tards against it were simply lying. It works and it's clear that in an environment like we are in now, small blocks are far superior as they are much harder to stop. You can relay bitcoin over dial-up for instance.

Anyhow, think what you like but my bet is on Adam Back being Satoshi since the writing and coding style is so similar. Good thing is there is choice. I'm not against choice.

Imo, Mina is the greatest achievement outside of bitcoin. They figured out how to have about a 22kb blocksize forever with full proof that it existed that way in the past.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 12, 2022 21:57:11 ago (+0/-0)

"Bitcoin is worth nothing" should probably be across the whole lot.

The dots are meaningless and crypto is still a massive ponzi.

Meaning Btc is everyone's first sacrifice.
