I think the quantity of meat in the diet would have depended greatlly on the climate. Tropical H-Gs would have spent a lot of time gathering plant food. In cold climates the diet would have been almost exclusively meat. Why are their still so many big fauna in Africa like elephants and giraffes and hippos? Shouldn’t africans have killed and eaten all of them by now? Thats what happened in eurasia and the americas. I think africans ate more fruit.

There are some groups in Africa that do primarily eat meat but they hunt smaller animals. Admittedly they're closer to the Sahara and not in the tropics. I believe difficulty in taking down large prey is half of the equation. Lazy, cowardly niggers are not inclined to attack anything larger than a man. And we know plenty of them engage in cannibalism because it's easy. Even now that they have guns it is still a significant hurdle for them, because an AK is insufficient to take out large game and they are terrible shots.
There is a ton of matrilocal polygamy near the equator. One presumes that it is because women are able to be more economically self reliant on gathering fruits and vegetables and grubs. Eskimos are a good model for how our ancestors lived I think: heavily carnivorous and fairly patriarchal and monogamous. Big game is big risk. You might take risks for your children. Polygamists of the kind you see in matrilocal societies never really know which kids are their kids. Theres no incentive. And really when there are other sources of food, why take the risk?
Cannibalism eliminates sexual competition and it puts food on the table. Yum.
