People drank raw milk for centuries until suddenly some microbiologist suggested a way of destroying milk's flavor and health benefits as a way to make it "safer". Milk from locally owned farms was safe and people drank it without a second thought until the 20th century, when "food scientists" decided that everything we ate and drank was unsafe.

I drank raw milk my parents bought at a local dairy run by a Dutch farmer who kept a scrupulously clean farm and healthy cows. No one ever got sick from his dairy products.

And fuck the bias and hidden data in that article. You have to hunt to find the actual numbers of people who allegedly got sick from raw milk. They only talk about percentages, which is incredibly misleading. "Unpasteurized dairy products cause 840 times more illnesses and 45 times more hospitalizations than pasteurized products". These numbers likely include non-Europeans, who often aren't as capable of digesting cow milk as well as Europeans. In fact, I don't see any mention of demographics at all.

The site "Food Safety Network" is sponsored by Marler Clark. Who is that, you say? Well this is how they describe themselves on their own Web site:

"Marler Clark, The Food Safety Law Firm is the nation’s leading law firm representing victims of foodborne illness outbreaks. The food poisoning lawyers at Marler Clark are trusted experts who put clients first. Our attorneys will guide and advise individuals and families impacted by food poisoning through the entire legal process from the first consultation to the resolution of their case."

Yup. Fucking lawyers. Fucking ambulance chasers. OP, you should be embarrassed posting nonsense like this.

Ah, I see. I clearly wasn't paying attention. Now I'm embarrassed I said that now. Thanks for the correction.

I also grew up driving to our local Dutch dairy farmer for milk and cheese.
Both my parents grew up on small dairy farms for a time, the kids milked every morning and would leave the milk out on the rd for the collector to come grab it when they walked to school.
Nobody even thought to fuck with it or steel it, and that’s what the public bought in the stores without a single death or serious illness.
With less then 1% as much cancer or Alzheimer’s, and not a single autistic ADHD riddled twerking faggot kid in site.

That's not really a great argument. People got sick for centuries. The biologist developed the procedure as a response to a real problem.

Who paid to produce that article? Well none other than a bunch of thievin' attorneys known as "https://marlerclark.com/"

Always ask- Who paid for the study? Who does the conclusion benefit?

Judging by the responses here, it seems most of you are already aware of the health benefits of raw milk.

If you're interested in learning more about raw milk and other traditional foods, I emphatically recommend the book "Deep Nutrition" by Catherine Shanahan: https://drcate.com/deep-nutrition-why-your-genes-need-traditional-food/

It might sound like a dull topic and I found it to be particularly well-researched and written. A real page-turner.

[ - ] IfuckedYerMum 1 point 2 yearsMay 2, 2022 20:49:19 ago (+1/-0)

How does this differ from Weston A. Price's work? Is Shanahan's book better for any reason? I notice she leaves fat out of her Four Pillars, which Price said was an important factor in traditional diets.

[ - ] Fascinus 2 points 2 yearsMay 2, 2022 23:32:41 ago (+2/-0)

Great question!

It actually draws quite heavily upon the outstanding work of Weston Price (I almost mentioned that earlier).

Concerning fat, organ meats, which comprises one of the four pillars, is loaded with it.

As far as whether her book is better, that's a tough call. I will say that I found her exposition on nutrition and development as it relates to sacred geometry was both highly interesting and accessible.

That being said, if you're already familiar with the work of Weston Price, there may not be as much for you here in terms of revelatory concepts as there will be for others.

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention. Just DLed it.

Fuck pasteurization. It nukes all the good bacteria and the remaining bad bacteria eventually repopulates.

[ - ] 3Whuurs 1 point 2 yearsMay 3, 2022 02:58:41 ago (+1/-0)

Exactly!
They always get away with smoke screening the counter argument by making the initial accusation salacious.
Accuse milk of being dangerous and retards fall for the trap of arguing within the attackers terms.
And the harmful effects of their Hegelian “solution” is never mentioned.

I've heard of one instance where a politician caught lyme and managed to cure it by injecting a cow with the same pathogens, waiting for the cow's immune system to deal with it, then drinking the raw milk with the colostrum still in tact.

Like many things regarding health, there are benefits and risks, and the individual should be allowed to determine whether the risks are worth it or not.

We've had a few batches that we acquired directly from a non-commercial operation spoil.

No problems whatsoever with raw milk from local farms acquired through grocers.

[ - ] Bonlio1 1 point 2 yearsMay 2, 2022 18:06:06 ago (+1/-0)

Everything else they say is wrong like carbs, the amount of water I should drink, organ meats, makes me wonder if they are wrong about this as well

[ - ] Oven_Stuffer_3000 0 points 2 yearsMay 3, 2022 09:18:51 ago (+0/-0)

i drank raw milk for most of my life. im taller healthier and stronger than most all kids growing up. I will be getting a milk cow soon since moving off the family farm and starting my own. you should research homogenizations effect on the body. let alone all the fragile nutrition destroyed by pasturization.

[ - ] NedsHead 0 points 2 yearsMay 3, 2022 05:34:19 ago (+0/-0)

Raw milk isn't safe for pregnant women, everyone else go nuts

[ - ] 3Whuurs 0 points 2 yearsMay 3, 2022 02:31:09 ago (+0/-0)

Seems like a pretty blatant conflict of interest for a lawyer specializing in food poisoning cases to fund the “private” scientific effort to chose the mega industry they’d like to blame.

[ - ] AlexanderMorose13 0 points 2 yearsMay 2, 2022 20:16:26 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah, this shit is totally bullshit. I've met people who have been on the "raw diet." They're healthy and still going strong. I'm glad that you're taking this article as fake news, because it's nothing other than fear porn.

[ - ] Stonkmar 0 points 2 yearsMay 2, 2022 19:59:15 ago (+0/-0)

You shouldn't be drinking another animal's milk anyway. Fucks up your gut (pasturization might add to this), your body doesn't absorb all the calcium, growth hormones, pus, blah blah. But, it's delicious so...Probably jews involved too.
Even adult cows don't drink milk.

[ - ] Oven_Stuffer_3000 0 points 2 yearsMay 3, 2022 09:20:32 ago (+0/-0)

animal products are the healthiest foods a human can eat. all of European existence disagrees with your claims

Seems like the pasteurized milk is impacting your logical reasoning.

Yeah but it's so good. You haven't had milk until its poured from the milk cooler.
