One that sounds awful, but is correct, is "taken aback." I've heard it and it sounded stupid, so I thought it was wrong. I looked and it's legit, but still sounds like trash. Why not say "taken back?"

Taken aback is a very common phrase in my part of the world. And it means something entirely different to ‘taken back’, hence the difference. Taken aback means to be shocked or surprised by something. I’m not sure exactly what ‘aback’ might mean independently of that phrase, but having lived in Spain last year I learned I don’t really understand a lot of English idioms and phrases which I use regularly. It really dawned on me that I essentially speak nonsense when a Spaniard with good English asked me what a ‘muchness’ is after I described something as being much of a muchness - I had no idea what to tell him beyond just saying it’s just what we say when two things are very similar.

The psychology play is to make covid-tyranny come in waves with each wave higher than the last. But you also must keep the people fearful and upset so that they don't start thinking. So we will have something like ukraine in between every wave of covid.

I'm guessing that they are trying to time it so that we can get our fear/oppression maxed out and declining by the election so that the party will look like they helped.

They just need some source of stress. Like most of these types of things it is probably to destabilize an area and change the relationships between nations. There is also tons of money in conflicts.

Ukraine has white people, so it is much easier to get Americans to empathize with them when compared to the normal shithole brown nations.

Basically there are tons of reasons why to have the ukraine thing, but what you have to notice is how the propaganda is used. It is obviously being used against the people to make them afraid and used to not thinking rationally/critically.

Yes, if you can get someone to "trust authority" and stop thinking critically, then you can get them to do anything. Add in some punishment for disobeying (january 6th, charlottesville, mccloskys, etc.) and you have the perfect system
