If that actually works, then it can't be an IP block. Querying de.catbox returns a CNAME record pointing to files.catbox. Both resolve to 107.160.74.131. If it were an IP block, de.catbox.moe wouldn't work.

So that tells me it's much more insidious. My guess is Aussie ISPs are deliberately fucking with DNS lookups at the behest of the government. Perhaps some Aussies could roll their own DNS (unbound is the easiest) and get the lookups directly from the root servers. If that works, then it's DNS fuckery. If that STILL doesn't work, then there are big, big problems in .AU internets.

the de.catbox thing works for me without a vpn so whoever is doing it didnt do a very good job of it. but its a pain in the ass manually changing a url for everything. vpn browser extension does the job.
