Famine: USA

submitted by FalseRealityCheck to EconomicCollapse 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 00:21:03 ago (+37/-3)     (EconomicCollapse)

I know a family who owns a restaurant, and I stopped by today for a visit. They have been dealing with erratic deliveries of food supplies since the Notsogreat Reset began. Things have been steadily deteriorating and now there are certain items that they can’t get from any of their suppliers.

They informed me that a few days ago one of the salesmen from their largest food suppler came by and told them to prepare for the worst. He said the distributor is no longer able to source certain items and he doesn’t think they will ever be able to get these items again. I’m not talking about being unable to get a certain brand of ice cream or peaches, for example; I’m talking about not being able to get ice cream or peaches period.

The board of directors for the corporation has been having emergency meetings and are voicing concerns about how long the company will be able to remain in business since they can’t source product. And more interestingly, the board also discussed how the shortage of food will eventually lead to a famine in the United States in the not-to-distant future.

This information was not for public consumption, but the salesman has been working for the company for decades and has connections in the higher echelons of management. Somebody gave him a head’s-up so that he can plan accordingly. Apparently the salesmen was pretty shook-up when relaying this information.

For the record nothing magically vanished.
All the land is still there. All the buildings are still there. Water still falls from the sky.
The scarcity is entirely intentional.

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 7 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 04:00:59 ago (+7/-0)

Am important thing to realize is that the breakdown of long supply chains does create scarcity but at the same time it will also create surplus. If you are geographically near production, there will be an excess of supply and costs for some goods will fall dramatically. Think about a guy who has a large ranch with 100 cows. He normally sells them to a company 300 miles away that buys up cows from the entire region, then finishes them and sends them off for meat packing. That's how things usually work today. Now, if that central company is no longer able to operate due to their ability to distribute the product going away, the rancher with 100 cows near you will have to sell the meat locally. Suddenly there is beef from 100 cows available in your local market exclusively that was not there before.

The key thing to do is to study what is produced locally and how products move around in your area. If your region is sustainable because it can produce products locally, you're in a good place. If everything you depend upon has to come from these long, complex supply chains realize you'll have shortages within a few years time.

Something similar happened in my area in 2020. The hog farmers couldn't get their livestock to market, so they started selling them at a dramatic discount. I still have two whole hams in the freezer from that time period. Another major bottleneck that has developed is getting the livestock processed. I have two local butcher shops. To get an animal processed you have to get on a waiting list with a lead time 6-12 months out. People are starting to set up their own 'community' butcher shops with their friends to process the meat themselves. (Which was very common decades ago.)

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 3, 2022 04:55:00 ago (+1/-0)

the processing is where most of the centralization has occurred to support the long supply chains. the end result is people near production, aka anyone rural where people raise livestock, will have a surplus.

[ - ] WhiteGoat 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 07:48:59 ago (+2/-0)

Yes, beef from my local sources is bizarrely cheap right now. I haven't seen big chain prices in a while.

[ - ] Hobama 3 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 07:23:38 ago (+3/-0)

I just flew over a massive swath of land subdivided into farms as far as the eye can see. There is plenty of land and water to grow food. The famine is intentional just like the Irish potato famine when Britain started or the Irish.

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 3, 2022 04:55:50 ago (+2/-0)

that won't make the lack of food any less real

I can feel it coming people have no idea. And as soon as the media slams it in your face like Ukraine it will be a pendulum swing of people rushing these resources instead of spacing it out.

I work in semiconductor and the higher ups are strangely optimistic about shortages going away and I've been laughing my ass off because at the same time they're leaving in droves. The ones who are staying must be tv watchers.

Like it has been so bad we can't get microchips for our microchips 😆 lol which means we can't test these things until we get the main components. So for weeks we have been learning about pneumatics since plastic tubes and air isn't on shortage.

[ - ] WhiteGoat 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 07:45:07 ago (+1/-0)

[ - ] we_kill_creativity 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 12:38:07 ago (+1/-0)

I work in semiconductor

Tell me all you know about the transformer "shortage". Currently working on a piece of land and we're on a 6 month wait list to get a transformer before we can get electricity on the property.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck [op] 3 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 13:45:04 ago (+3/-0)

Transformers don't necessarily need semicondutors, but there is a shortage of transformers because of supply chain issues. My local electrical co-op got smart and started stocking up on transformers years ago. I was in their yard yesterday and there must be about 100 of them, of various sizes.

Last year I got to talking with the yard foreman and I asked about all the transformers. He said the board of directors for the co-op got spooked years ago about a pending transformer shortage and decided to budget for building up a transformer inventory. Previous to that they more or less ordered transformers as they needed them.

Now I'm waiting for the day when somebody gets ballsy enough to try and steal them.

[ - ] we_kill_creativity 3 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 18:48:49 ago (+3/-0)

If your local electrical co-op is anywhere remotely close to the Southeast of America could you please DM me? Like, pretty please...?

[ - ] Bottled_Tears 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 12:50:26 ago (+2/-0)

It's just everything. We can't get the motion controllers for z axis function on the machines. It's been so bad we sometimes can't get a bracket to cover the cabling we do inside the machine to hold it together.

Even plastic plugs and fittings have been taking forever.

[ - ] veggy 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 13:43:42 ago (+1/-0)

made in china or germany. those factory cities are shut down. The shangi port, just broke its main fuel pump.... so it can't fuel up a cargo ship, to go get the extra parts to fix the fuel pump which are too big to move over road.(these are the exact type of catch 22 situations that are starting to arise and will exponetially make things worse)

Theres a HUGE choke point in the west over those transformers. Its a HUGE problem. and why an EMP attack send the USA back into the dark ages.

Only two factories int he world make em, both are out of country and the reserves of spares are non-existent int he sttates.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck [op] 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 13:53:39 ago (+2/-0)

...and why an EMP attack send the USA back into the dark ages.
I've been thinking about this for a couple of decades now. I've come to the conclusion that pending the release of some suppressed advanced technology, we could go back to steam technology like they used during the early phases of the industrial revolution. With this technology we wouldn't have to regress all that far back, and could use the technology to rebuild the electrical grid.

For reference: https://glcp.uvm.edu/landscape_new/dating/industrial_architecture/steam_factories.php

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 3, 2022 04:56:54 ago (+1/-0)

the real reason for that is the USA has been quietly hardening its grid against EMP since Trump was in office. they have used up the entire supply of new hardware replacing basically everything with EMP shielded stuff.

I seriously doubt that much of the electrical grid in the US is EMP shielded.

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 0 points 2.5 yearsApr 4, 2022 19:21:09 ago (+0/-0)

it isn't. they've changed as much as they can but it's not enough, the point is that process has increased demand for the equipment. Trump took disaster preparedness very seriously.

Why do you trust this? It is literally "muh secret info" from someone you don't know. Be careful about confirmation bias. They are playing on your fears to manipulate you.

[ - ] oldblo 7 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 02:28:48 ago (+7/-0)

Its not secret. Just not actively advertised.
The powers that be have been going on for months about an upcoming biblical scale famine along with a shortage of well everything.
Globohomo has a very long record of manufacturing their claims.
You can also just listen and observe in your general area. For me at least its not hard to hear more or less the same.

[ - ] canbot 9 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 02:55:55 ago (+9/-0)

I heard a lot about this going into covid lockdowns and that made a lot more sense. Particularly the run on stores. And it didn't happen. There were a few places that ran short on noodles and toilet paper.

That you hear these claims a lot does not make it any more true, that is how propaganda works. It is not one very convincing argument, it is dozens of nudges and suggestions. A little scare about fertilizer here, a little claim about gov destroying crops, a little story about unverifiable shortages.

There are way too many examples of people claiming a famine is coming with zero real evidence for it not to be propaganda. This claim is popping up everywhere in spades, and never with real information.

The reality is prices will go up because inflation is skyrocketing. They will use scarcity as an excuse to hide the collapsing of the dollar.

[ - ] oldblo 6 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 03:24:00 ago (+6/-0)

Is this supposed to be some kind of contradiction? Restaurants and stores cant get the food they typically get. They admit it. You can see it with your own eyes. It doesnt matter how much food is out there somewhere if you cant get it. It doesnt matter what you want to call it. Thats the current state of things. How long does reality need to exist for it to be something other than propaganda?

[ - ] canbot 3 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 03:29:53 ago (+4/-1)

You can see it with your own eyes.

That's the thing, you can't. I haven't hear a single restaurant owner complain about this IRL. It's all just stories on the internet.

Russia and Ukraine together produce 30% of the world's wheat, if you don't think that's gonna do a number on the global food market you're retarded

[ - ] canbot 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 12:11:36 ago (+1/-0)

You're retarded if you think you can credibly claim a famine is coming because of the war.

[ - ] namvata 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 18:56:41 ago (+1/-0)

30% of global supply is a decent shock to supply chains

[ - ] canbot 0 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 22:26:38 ago (+0/-0)

No, it is well within what is thrown out because of over production. And even if it wasn't it would be a local increase in prices for particular markets. Not a shortage.

[ - ] we_kill_creativity 0 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 12:44:43 ago (+0/-0)

Your borderline retarded. It's not that you won't be able to find "food" to put in your stomach that makes you feel full, it's that that "food" will be the nutritional equivalent of cardboard. And it's been going on so long and gradually that people like you haven't noticed, apparently. Have you really not seen young men in their 20s with graying hair and baldness like men in their 50s used to be...? On top of that...have you not noticed the insane prices on all supermarket food? Which is what happens when demand stays the same, but supply goes down.

Not just food...there's a fucking computer chip "shortage" that's being used to justify empty car lots and farmers not being able to get tractors going. Then there's the electrical transformer "shortage" I'm currently dealing with. Oh yeah...not to mention the worker "shortage". Jesus dude...what do you not see?

Corony was just used as the excuse to unveil all this...now it's the "new normal". What's not to get...?

I live in a community that is largely agricultural. I can verify that the farmers are in big trouble primarily because of the heavy debt loads they are carrying. Most are well over $1M in debt and going deeper. The value of their land keeps going up so the banks keep loaning them money. Although, even if they sold their land they would not have much left over.

I talked to a local farmer last August. We got on the topic of farm machinery and how the new stuff is crap and doesn't last. He told me he has a John Deere combine in the shop getting fixed to the the tune of $60,000. He said when they gave him the estimate he thought that maybe it would be smarter to simply trade it in on a new combine. That is until he found out that the value of his 3-year old combine was only $50,000. I asked how much he paid for it new and he said $350,000.

He said that he decided to gamble and fix his machine even though just the cost to fix it was more than it was worth. Basically he paid $60,000 for a machine that is only worth $50,000 (I'm sure it's worth significantly less this year.) on the hopes that he can get a few more years out of it.

I got the impression that money/debt was the issue so I pressed him further on his finances. He said he was getting worried and didn't want to get further into debt. (I did not find out how much debt he owed.) He then told me he could have easily gotten a $750,000 loan at 3% interest due to some Covid program, but did not want to take on that much more debt. I asked about the other farmers in the area and he said that all of the ones he talked to took the loan. I asked why and he said most have to keep getting further into debt just to stay operating.

When you contemplate that the same scenario is playing out across the entire United States, you see a crisis of epic proportions on the horizon. That should make any intelligent person take pause and consider what comes next — and that's just one of many of the crises that are on the horizon.

Things are going to get very, very brutal in the not-to-distant future.

And it didn't happen.

it did in my area. we went into Aldis and were faced with a store full of empty shelves for more than a week. Same with the local grocery store. Costco didn't have empty shelves, but it was pretty obvious that they were VERY low on many things, and certain things like whole chicken was completely gone.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck [op] 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 14:30:01 ago (+2/-0)

Globohomo has a very long record of manufacturing their claims.
Very true; I first became aware of this in the late 1990s. I didn't start taking it seriously until the years right after 9/11. I moved out of a major metropolitan area of the US about 15 years ago and began to prepare accordingly for what I realized was coming. People thought I was nuts. Not to many think that about me anymore.

I'm getting all kinds of questions from locals as to what I think they should do to prepare. Most nod in agreement, but still won't make any effort to prepare. I think it's mainly because they simply hope nothing will happen, or some outside savior is going to come and make sure their life remains comfortable until they get into heaven. Still thinking this way after the shit that happened during Trump's time in office — and especially the last two years — I don't have much hope for these people.

Others are actually making preparations. The family that owns the restaurant in my original post, for example, wasn't making any preparations because they are religions/spiritual and though they had time and would be Ruptured. When the scamdemic shit happened they began to wake up in a hurry. Now they are making all sorts of preparations, but are constantly berating themselves for not acting sooner.

[ - ] cb1 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 06:49:42 ago (+2/-1)

This is exactly right. And the problem is, when the famine doesnt happen, no one is held accountable for the fear.

The donald pushed empty shelves for a couple months around Christmas. There may have been a few things missing. But no one had any problem getting toys. it was and is constant fear mongering.

As far as the western/globohomo regions are concerned, the US will be hit last, including the USD. The worst areas are edgelands of the empire with little local production and limited financial resources, they'll need to get it together quickly. The total supply of goods will be reduced and the places like USA that can afford to buy them up will get them, leaving everyone else short of those goods. Eventually even USA will not be able to acquire those goods but it won't be the first to fall.

I work at a small restaurant/bar, and while we did have shortages on some random items it seems like it's back to normal. prices have increased, of course, but for the first time in months we're not out of anything. I'm talking shit like crackers, peppers and wax paper. I don't know if it's a calm before a storm or just something to agitate us further. All I know is that if something causes you to have an emotional response you should probably try to look at it without emotion.

[ - ] Empire_of_the_Mind 3 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 04:04:50 ago (+3/-0)

This will vary wildly depending upon how your goods are supplied. The OP sounds like they are talking about a larger corporate chain distribution source which will definitely be impacted by issues in the long supply chain. Many restaurants use local distributors and suppliers and will not have these issues.

Canada has 3000 km across the country of pretty much all farmland. We are a net exporter of food.

Our PM just warned us of upcoming food shortages.

We won't even have enough wheat to feed our own population. Yet as it stands right now, we have enough to feed 2/3of the entire world.

Sure, that makes sense.

Thanks for the heads up Falserealitycheck, already planned and executed a strategy. Prepped and ready. Got no worries, even though I can tell it's going to be a rough fucking ride and getting worse (it's literally fine now) through 2023.

You are welcome. It's good to see that some people realize what is coming and are taking appropriate actions. It's going to be hell, but a prepared mind will adapt whilst the unprepared will panic and succumb.

[ - ] letsgetit 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 03:54:08 ago (+2/-0)

I do think prices will go, not sure about famine level stuff. Fertilizer prices are going through the roof

[ - ] AryanPrime 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 03:38:31 ago (+2/-0)

not once is all the panic do they stop to think "hey maybe constantly demonizing White people might not be the best idea" since Whites are good at growing food no?

Maybe that's just my silly brain

[ - ] noonefromnowhere 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 04:50:00 ago (+1/-0)

I wouldn't say famine. US is still a big exporter of food. Best believe fedgov is going to ban food exports if shit gets bad. You may not be able to get imported stuff like avocados and various fruits but wheat, milk, corn, etc... are still going to be available.

[ - ] beece 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 07:22:59 ago (+1/-0)

Avocados come from California (and Mexico)- but point noted.

[ - ] ForgottenMemes 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 02:04:27 ago (+3/-2)

Why though?

There have been no draughts, no crop failures, no massive livestock plague or die off. The USA is still a massive food exporter. There's no legitimate reason you can't get basic things like ice cream and peaches if you're willing to pay a little more.

[ - ] TerryB 6 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 02:25:18 ago (+6/-0)

When China invades Taiwan then nothing will come here from China anymore. So the farmer who needs that part for his tractor will not have it and the truck driver who moves the food around will not have a part for his truck. It is all interconnected and we are no longer resilient.

[ - ] ForgottenMemes 2 points 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 12:34:29 ago (+2/-0)

Except that hasn't happened yet. He's saying there's already shortages. There's no way that's organic. The point is that if OP is legit then the shortages are because of jewish manipulation not an actual lack of production.

[ - ] beece 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 07:27:08 ago (+1/-0)*

That's already occurring pre-invasion @Terryb, and I suspect it's intentional on the Chinese part. Trump, for all of his faults, would have already addressed it, but the clowns in charge currently will wait until it's front page news (and too late) to address it. If your combine blows a part, John Deere is already telling you "tough titty" go scrounge one off a trashed unit or make something else work cause you won't get it from us. They are prioritizing production, not repair of your machinery. That's occurring right now, the Ukraine fertilizer and food hit will be next year. When you add it all up, it will be significant.

This drought been going on for years and predicted to get worse.

Thanks for the heads, would you be able to tell us which exact items?

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck [op] 1 point 2.5 yearsApr 2, 2022 13:06:56 ago (+1/-0)

They mentioned some items that they haven't been able to get all year, but the only one I remember is soft-serve ice cream. They have been experiencing random, periodic shortages of various item since early 2020, and have had to change products and suppliers several times. They talked about how irate their customers have become due to the random shortages and the repeated price hikes they've had to implement as their product costs increase from the distributor.

The main point of what I posted is that the food distributor seems to think that soon almost nothing will be available.

Dude, @Phantom42_1 hang in there. This is some of the most interesting shit to happen in a lifetime and it's heading our way like a fucking freight train sans brakes. Expect next year 2023, to be the highlight. We all need you, and everyone else like you, to hang around for this one. I'm not joking. Walk away from the goddamned internet for a bit and let your own internal thoughts settle.

Consider this when your TV and internet are off for those days: "Organize and execute around written priorities". That is, spend that time thinking of what is important to you, then write that down and work off of that. No joke brother, write that shit down. - Good luck.

For me it was realizing that FOR ME, life was a 3 legged stool. Money, health, relationships. Pull out any one leg and you're on your ass. Health being the one you need the most but take for granted when you're healthy of course.

@Phantom42_1 Don't rush it, death comes soon enough. BTW, health is the most precious of the 3. What I'm going to say now to you won't seem true to you now, but trust me on this, I have seen the desert of no money and no relationships (been lucky on health other than a short-medium spell in a VA hospital).

I once was so poor that I ate potatoes for 3 days straight, and when I ran out of potatoes I literally went into the garbage and scraped out the potato skins I'd peeled so unwisely early and ate those. I know what I'm talking about: money and relationships are easy to get. BUT, you need to organised and execute your life around a plan of written prioritys. The hard part is thinking of what your true priorities are. One you know that, and that's the hard part, write them down, then plot out goals on how to get there. You'll be frustrated at times, and on occasions you'll feel you are hitting a brick wall ( I hit that wall for at least a year and a half and it was driving me near mad) but hang true brother. Print this and reread it on occasion if you need too. Then set your goals and priorities, do it now. Print them out and read those fuckers every morning. Shit will work out if you do this. Beyond your dreams.

Organize and execute your life around your written priorities.

Luck brother
