Google search is fucking terrible and anyone whose ever googled anything worth a damn knows it. You searched through 30 billion results in .56 seconds and the best you got is:
- a link to the home page of the thing I'm talking about - a ten year old article that doesn't answer the question - the opposite of what I asked - by the 4th/5th result it's even more worthless
A few things,
- fucking try harder. Maybe search for .8 seconds. How is it economical when I have to do 50 variations of the search (.56*80) when you could do a search that isn't SHIT and get me the answer with less queries.
- me and people like me have searched for this before. What was the last page(s) we visited then? That would indicate where the solution was. Why Google not remember that and suggest those pages?
- why Google show exactly the same page when I obviously have not found the answer in it? They have no concept of a search session? Stop showing me the same useless shit, it didn't help the first 20 times. There's no way to tell Google that result isn't helpful?
-Google believes in diversity even in its search results and they are wrong about diversity yet again. Yes, give me all the stackoverflows before joms blog from 10 years ago.
- there are no tools other than fake "advanced search". It's just the one search box which ironically people proclaim as brilliant. No it's fucking not. I need more options to do a good search. More tools and widgets and features. I'm not searching for "what celebrity wore today". I need filters, history tools, regex tools, similar user search graphs, etc. And gonna need more horsepower than fake 30 billion in .56.
- political bias, selling you shit bias, God knows what else, taint their results.
I'm sure I could go on. But the idea that Google is unbeatable in search, I believe, is the biggest fraud in tech today. Google (and Bing) SUCK at search and I think I could beat them by fixing the problems mentioned above. Now what they DO have is infrastructure. For example scraping and storing all those pages would be a challenge but not, I believe insurmountable. I think search is rife for disruption by something that's not another Google clone.
--------
Extra:
Oh yeah, I think this could be done by leveraging NLP machine learning to check for similarities between things but I suspect you could get that part of it done without having to become an expert in it. If need be hire someone to hook up a basic phrase comparison function or rent an existing library to get the project off the ground. Anyways, I laugh at the idea that Google is using brilliant AI in their searches because their searches suck. A little NLP combined with literal comparisons and better search tools would work better, I think. At least for search sessions where you don't get your result instantly.
Google has removed much of its capability from the interface but it is still there is you type it directly into a URL browser. You're right. They did this because niggers coudldn't be smart enough so white people shouldn't be able to do this.
The thing that makes google better is their massive server farm. They are constantly crawling sites and storing them. To be honest with you, SEO hasn't really made any significant advancements because the search engines have really taken a back seat to paid advertising and social Media is much more applicable for advertising.
That said, I built a small engine, shit? It must have been 2004 that would crawl every 12 hours, display a site thumbnail and you could rotate the thumbnail to the left and it would propagate the similar sites. It brought up results of five across and five down per page.
The idea was based on Johnny Mnemonic and we would be using goggles by 2010. I didn't recognize the financial crash and my business went under.
the high-speed "databases" that google uses are especially equipped "hardware databases"...that uses CPU L1-L3 cache, massive in memory cached searches, optimized SSD drives, and spindle drives...to return results in milli-second time..
This cpu-speed database meta-data is populated through massive machine imaging, audio, etc...tensor-flow...through massive "Hadoop" file-system clusters...working distributed/clustered to "index" raw data to the "3+ layer database cpu, memory, ssd, and spindle drives) many Terabytes..
They can use this super fast/cpu-speed database to generate solutions to just about any subset of problems except "university graduate level computing problems"
So, a search on "Google" could just as well of have solved all your research in a single search rather than a gazillion individual searches.
The search engine that is inside google, microsoft, facebook, etc. has to be absolutely beyond imagination.
Probably not, since a lot of resources are needed. And since I haven't found any alternative search engines that are better, I guess I wouldn't fare any better.
True but they're all trying to beat Google at being Google. I'm proposing a better a type of search more conducive to search sessions and/or search types that Google currently sucks at.
Less queries means fewer ad impressions. Don't let google tell you they charge pay per click. They adjust your fee per click needed to get to a particular page height according to relevance, which they measure with clicks. Meaning it balances out to be pay per impression. (Get fewer clicks you pay more per click to remain in position N, so you end up paying the same in total no matter what to be in position N.)
