In Uk they are trying to ban wood burning stoves. Already fucked with the coal.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 4 points 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 10:17:28 ago (+4/-0)

Yep. Ireland banned turf harvesting too. We import turf from Germany now, I wish I were joking.

I grow my own grove of birch trees, never ran out in the past two years so far.

If you use the proper type of wood it's not that bad.

I do agree that we'd have nothing but issues though, as the average person is too stupid too think the process through and use their resources efficiently. Let alone replenish their supplies adequately.

Birch smells great when it burns.

Light and sweet. Reminiscent of Maple syrup.

You ever find any Chaga?

[ - ] Her0n 2 points 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 11:54:10 ago (+2/-0)

Birch burns so well it’s like magic. I have found Chaga and I didn’t know what to do with it yet. We’ve tried tea but hated the taste, even with honey and milk added…

About 1/4 of my trees currently have it growing on them. I plan to build a shroom hut this year sometime. I have a ton of projects going on and I tend to bite off more than I can chew. We will see what happens.

I've never used the whole product, though I always look for it whenever I find Birch or Aspen groves.

The only extract I've tried that I like comes from a company called Sayan. It looks like fine black sand. Tea made from it has a coffee-like consistency and mouth feel and tastes like unsweetened birch syrup. I think it's great.

I probably did something wrong then, I'll try it again sometime.

[ - ] Fascinus 0 points 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 17:41:48 ago (+0/-0)

Maybe, maybe not. I have some whole chunks from Russia and I've never tried making tea from them.

I've seen people do water/alcohol extractions to make tinctures from it.

I have no idea how the Sayan folks process the raw product to end up with the extract that they do and it's good stuff.

All I have to do is stop being lazy and walk out to the trees to get some. I was lucky to be able to expand an already existing patch of them.

This is why I don't bother with anyone much anymore. I have land available for people I trust, if they want to homestead alongside me they need to show me their plans.

I have had friends come to try and fail, but for every 2-3 failures I find one who makes it (so far). I'll take all the "wins" I can get.

I have to be very careful, because I'll still have power. I haven't needed any public utilities for at least 1.5 years. I'll still have warm water on demand for showers and full food stores (except dairy, need to get goats or cows next) while others are starving and freezing.

I have been screaming about this for a while now and no one listens to me. I refuse to save anyone, that's an impossible task. A man must save himself, no one can save another from this living hell that is the jew system.

I currently have a “dead man zone” between my outer wall and my inner fencing, filled with various deadly and non-lethal traps. Motion sensors and cameras going in this summer. I Check them every day, but I haven’t found any hominids, only skunks and one time a bear.

I tried googling “how to deal with a live skunk in your traps” and none of the methods suggested worked.

I’d rather have these problems than worrying about my “credit score” and filing taxes.

Best thing you can do is just share your knowledge, you can bring a horse to water, but can't make them drink.

[ - ] Her0n 0 points 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 13:52:53 ago (+0/-0)

I don't even show them the water anymore. I'm concentrating on myself and mine for now.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 1 point 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 10:15:08 ago (+1/-0)

Not really. Most firewood you can buy comes from managed forests where trees are grown as a crop. Deforestation generally isn't caused by forestry, it's caused by land being cleared for agriculture.

Do you have even a re mote chance of accomplishing this, sir?

This image just screams to meme-the guy as the zog, the chicken as the White man, and the stick as "come on, do a terrorism".

Please goats, don't burn down your fucking houses. Also, any coals you pull forward are going to smoke you out of the place.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 1 point 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 10:16:30 ago (+1/-0)

You realise there's a draft pulling the smoke up the chimney right? That's how chimneys work.

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 13:05:11 ago (+0/-0)

Not if you pull the coals forward of the draft. That's a large fireplace and although I've not used one that large I'm guessing the draft would be weaker because it's area would be spread out larger. On a standard fireplace of which I am very familiar I can get smoke in the house from something being toward the front of the hearth which is only about 12 -16 inches.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 1 point 2.1 yearsMar 17, 2022 14:17:27 ago (+1/-0)

Eh... they're like a few inches forward of the fireplace, it'll be fine.
