It's always going to be about how terrible Russia's military is, until they finish crushing the coutry and then it's going to be all red menace. US took three weeks to conquer a third world country even with total air superiority. Russia is fighting against an actual army with modern weapons.

As far as I can tell the Ukrainian military is hiding and not doing much fighting. Pretty similar to Iraq.

Iraq had shitty old SAMs and RPGs. Ukraine has much newer weapons. Also Iraq is full of arabs who are notoriously shitty fighters.

Doesn't do them much good when they flee and abandon the equipment.

You may have a point but you'd think Russia would have learned from the First Battle of Grozny (1994-1995) that tanks are hopeless in built-up areas:

"Initially, the Russians were surprised, and their armored columns—intended to take the city without difficulty—were devastated in fighting reminiscent of the Battle of Budapest in late 1944. As a short-term measure, the Russians deployed self-propelled anti-aircraft guns (ZSU-23-4 and 9K22 Tunguska) to engage the Chechen combat groups because the main gun of the tanks could not elevate or decline enough to engage the fire teams, and the armored vehicle's machine gun could not suppress the fire of several fire teams simultaneously."

Yeah, tanks suck in cities. Attack helicopters are where it's at. Unfortunately the Ukranians still have decent anti air weapons for the time being.
