Sometimes I ask myself how much of this effect is caused by differences in motivation (psychology) and ideology. I see this summary, and I recognize a well-off college student, who meets another well-off college student, and they have an idea to change the nature of the way we secure places to stay on vacation. (I say they are well-off because RISD is an extremely expensive school to attend, and because, well, he's Jewish.)

Now, maybe there is ethnocentrism or nepotism going on when these guys seek funding, and the world opens up to their ambitions. Sure. My intuition says there's definitely some of that going on. If the majority wealth holders are predominantly Jewish, they're likelier to share it with other Jews to give the latter a platform for increasing Jewish wealth-holdings overall (in a market-level sense). It's good for their community.

But I also think about this in terms of differences between Jews and host populations. How much more inclined are Jews to rule-breaking, even in the sense of thinking 'outside the box'? How much more inclined are white Europeans to not stirring the pot, to a mindset of 'maintenance' and stability?

Could that difference explain why well-off Jews in expensive colleges get together and think about ways to innovate industries? Whereas white kids go to college thinking: "I'm going to get X degree and work within the existing system/hierarchy because that's what the rules are."

I'm imagining a thought experiment where there is an 'empty nation', and we populate that nation with 95% white Europeans and 5% Jews. But let's not start from scratch. Assume that this 'empty' nation was something like America in the early 20th century. All the infrastructure is there, together with all of the knowledge, such that things are 'ready to roll' when we start the experiment.

If you let this run for several generations, and whites had a tendency to maintain the status quo, while Jews did not, then you'd expect the Jews with 'AirBnB level' success to accrue more than average wealth. If they do this, and then they also privilege sharing that wealth with other young college-aged Jews who have innovative ideas, then over time you'd start to see wealth segregating.

Maybe whites are naturally inclined to stability-seeking (and therefore status quo maintaining), and it only takes a few generations of people who aren't (who are also intelligent, and highly ethnocentric) to jump into that pool and shift things around quickly.

There are other culture-lvl factors at work here too, especially for white youth to forego opportunities handed to them by their fathers (to inherit generational businesses, profitable ventures) that seem unsavory, in favor of 'having impact'. "No, I don't want this small business, dad! I want to go be a CEO in corporate land!" I can promise you, that in the case of the Jew, Brian (from the OP), if his father had been the one who started AirBnB, then Brian would have taken on that business as his own. You don't pass up a good thing.

But white people get stories about people like Brian, and they fail to recognize how reliant on ethnography it is, and they think, "I wanna be that too." But whites and their parents together fail to recognize the ethnic element, which over generations has meant the Jew boys have greater access to financing, and this might cause a lot of white men to squander inheriting good things in order to go out and have 'impact'.

I'm not arguing that white Europeans don't possess a tendency toward innovative thinking, but instead that it is different. I think whites tend to emphasize improving existing things that have proven they work, rather than totally dismissing previous innovations in favor of totally new paradigms.

Think Ford improving the horse by making the car, versus Brian here, who basically said, "I want to totally undermine hotels/suites." The White thinks: "How can I make this better by adding value to the thing itself?" The Jew thinks: "How can I make this thing valuable by destroying something else?"

The difference might seem subtle, and it is, but there are ways of spotting it. The Jewish strategy tends not to be as constructively creative (actually making something new), but is more often redefining. Ford invented something authentically new. Brian caused you to think about your house differently, and about homes differently in general. I think this is also one reason why host populations are so put off by Jews, because the Jew slackens the borders on traditional categories, seeking to profit by redefining them.
