As an aside, pretty sure "pneumatic" means breather. There's an interesting connection between breathing/wind and consciousness in greek philosophy. They considered breathing to be a form of sentience and zeus's breath to be the manner in which knowledge and enlightenment spread throughout the universe.

What would you say is the relationship between gnosticism and neoplatonism if any?

Any time I've read about it it doesn't sound that much like an abrahamic religion, a lot more like zoroastrianism.

If you're interested in delving further, I find Seneca's Letters to Lucilius to be particularly accessible. Those will take a while to get through, however.
