I cancelled Netflix years ago when they got rid of Frasier. When they asked me why I was cancelling, I wrote "You got rid of Frasier, so now you're dead to me"

It’s a good show, but unfortunately like all tv programming, the conditioning is still there…..being down with the gay, dysfunctional marriages and a couple other subtle things. I guess if it is Hollywood, it will always have an agenda. It is cool looking at different decades of media and what they were shaping.

That's kind of a dumb reason to cancel. Shows move around different streaming services all the time. They buy licences for shows (I think it's three years) and then it expires and another streaming service picks it up.

That was my only streaming service and I've never bought another. It was the only show I watched on it so I had no reason to keep paying the $9 a month and I have no desire to sign up for a different one

Yeah, I get what you mean but Netflix ditching Frasier wasn't anything shady. It's probably better to treat yourself to a physical DVD box set - at least you will own it. Streaming falls under the "you will own nothing and be happy". It doesn't matter if you just want to see shows/movies once or casually - but if you come across something you love and the streaming service gets rid of it, it was never yours anyway.

Oh yeah, I know it wasn't shady. I didn't get Netflix specifically to watch Frasier! I had gotten an account back when Netflix actually had a lot of old TV shows and movies because they were the only streaming service, and then when all the networks launched their own services and wanted their shows back, Netflix inventory steadily dwindled until finally Frasier was the last thing on there that I watched. So when it left, I figured it was about time I stopped wasting money on that kind of shit and got to get a laugh out of my departing message to them.

Totally agree about physical copies - that's the way to go if you really want to keep it. Places like GameXchange usually have stuff for really cheap. I download torrents sometimes too.
