My father is dying here in Century Care in Century Florida. He looks bored af... He likes Germanamericanradio.com. He is very Christian and I sit and read him his favorite verses, but I feel he's tiring of those things.
I'm looking any suggestions of nice, upbeat kinda of things that I can relax him with.
Remind him what the scripture says happens to believers when they die: "And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people"
gathered unto his people that really brought my dad a lot of comfort last year before he went, and it brings me comfort now knowing he's with them and the Lord now.
Read through the New Testament in order to him and maybe get him a simple to use audiobible when you're not there. Like on a used iPad or something big and easy to use.
Get right with God yourself so He can go to the Lord knowing you will join him there some day. Nothing is more important to a saved father than knowing his kids are saved too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MkpMxUR7hI
Get a copy of the A.A."Big Book or Blue Book"(I can't remember which one)anyhoo, this book has lots of stories like the ones you described.Happy reading,Best wishes.
Consider bringing a tape recorder. You can then transcribe it for future generations. My grand father's diary is pretty cool. Shows how different times were near and around the Great Depression. Most of it isn't about that directly, but really everything was different. My grandfather dropped out of high school, showed up to a university, and just enrolled in classes (dropped out to go to college). He didn't need anything but to show up. Had an older friend take him via bus from Alberta Canada to Utah. The idea was brought to his parents by the older friend and that very same day he said bye to his parents and headed out. Just didn't go back to high school.
The 30s. A time when a random 17 year old could show up to a university and say, "I go here now," and the university says, "got $100 bucks for tuition?", "yes.", "Well ok then." Got two phds and zero high school diploma.
I recorded my daily phone calls with Dad for at least 3 years... I pretty much interviewed him every day till he broke his hip and got out in the death home.
Nobody every believes me when I tell them how my dad invented radar, and a PhD(Charlie fink) and his two brothers got all the cred... I called my uncle's and asked them about this and they both said that dad was telling the truth.
I have some short clips of dad, but there really aren't any home movies unless my brother has them from the years he bought a camera and had it on all the time.
Gun range is out after the stroke... All his food is pureed... He loves ice cream... He also loves the duck out of the camel back bladder that I got him so he can drink easy.
Damn. I'm currently in a nursing home and my roommate is hospice DNR. Ive been contemplating life and it's meaning the past few days. Still don't know what to think
100% true. I'm here because I can't walk or do anything for myself in my current situation. I've only been here 8 days. As soon as i can get around without assistance, I plan on getting out of here.its humiliating being waited on and treated like a child. I appreciate them helping me though.
Germanamericanradio.com thanks for that. I picture Opa enjoying that too as something cooking in the kitchen fills the house with yummy smells. Opa's long gone, but still here every day. Hang in there.
Tell him you have kids and his line will continue. Lie if you have to, like say you have a baby on the way. Make sure he knows his life wasn't for nothing. Tell him he is the father of a future.
What about viewing old photo albums (if his eyesight is ok). You can describe the photos and let him reminise. Also bring up events during his lifetime and let him talk about where he was and what was his family doing at the time.
As others have mentioned, things that stir up memories are good. Old photos, songs or books from when he was younger. Could try scents and tastes too. If you know anything he grew up eating or drinking it'd be ideal.
Maybe watch some movies with him? Also, if you can bring him news about your extended family he might appreciate it.
Tell him about eurofolkradio.com, run by a Christian German pastor. Learn that the Israelites of the Bible are the White Adamic European people of the world and all great societies - lEgyptians, Maya, Mesopotamia, India - like it or not - were all White Adamic people before they each turned pagan and race mixed. Hope that will give him peace and that the true Germans are the tribe of Judah (erroneously translated to English as ‘Jews’) not the people today that claim they are the Israelites. (Beware the synagogue of satan). Hope that gives your father Peace.
Sing with him if he's able. Singing is something that has been portrayed as faggot behavior in modern culture like brotherly love to further isolate any masculine identity. Find some old hymns he might be familiar with or something well known from when he was a teenager. I'm sure it would lift his spirits. Bonus points if you can harmonize. Bringing up old songs stored deep in his memory could bring him back to that time when he was still a child, full of hope and wonder. Hopefully, I mean. Not everyone is so lucky growing up and I don't know his curcumstance in that regard.
Dad was in a bunch of come commercials in the 60's... I've only ever seen one of them from old twins of the Beverly hillbillies... My dad was the kind of good looking that ladies left puddles for. He had a few stalkers in college.

Ask him to tell you a story about his early life. Just one. Then listen and remember. If you have questions, ask them when he finishes. Also ask what he thinks he needs to tell you before he checks out, what things does your father think you should know. This is what is important.
I didn't ask for your opinion on religion. I'm pretty sure I didn't ask anything about Muslims... Why not quote the Talmud while your here? I hope your parents are getting their money's worth for your education...
I downloaded a lot of old movies for my mom to watch when she was dying. Stuff that was popular when she was a kid. There are a lot of great old movies on youtube and bitchute etc. There are certainly lots of good christian movies, biblical movies.
Many people claim to be Christian, but they actually are not. They are almost always heretics who don't understand what must be done to save their soul. Then they are on their deathbed without a care in the world not worried thinking they are going to heaven. Very few go to heaven. Today everyone thinks that if you are a "good" person and didn't do anything too horrible you somehow go to heaven. Just be a good person no matter who you are and you'll go to heaven. This is very false.

I just spent the last 4 days in south Santa Rosa County to see my family. Flew out of Pensacola a few hours ago.
How old is your father? Maybe share some music with him from when he was a teen?
