It's multiple computers so that reliability is high (until it isn't). As always, if you hold it, you own it (your local data).

To the point where failure starts to become more prevalent in the cloud than on a single computer. AWS has had repeated outages this year.

I operate systems in the 'cloud', in high availability clusters, and on single nodes with no kind of failover.

Surprisingly enough, isolated systems have machines with the largest uptime, going on 7 years for a handful scattered around the lowest level of availability.

I thought that's what the cloud meant: a cloud of computers, spread out.
