Someone with @WittyUserName posted a similar image as a reply. This struck a deep chord with me. Not Deja Vu, more like I said this sentiment to myself countless times. I seem to look for that event that will force my hand.

Length of time, prior state of mental/spiritual development, perhaps a myriad of other factors we have not considered... hard to say.

This comment resonates with me, however. I feel like I turned a corner recently. I have a newly-found sense of agency where one was missing before.

As Epictetus tells us:

Suffering arises from trying to control what is uncontrollable, or from neglecting what is within our power.

I have come to a place where I no longer feel that certain events are fully outside of my control and have resolved to take action upon those that are within my control when and where I can.

Immediately upon this resolution, the pervasive feeling of unease I had been carrying with me disappeared.

That's exactly it. Somewhere around when I got sober the black pills just went away and I promised myself to do all I could to help but I was done feeling hopeless about it. You put it much better then I did.

I have my first child and will be having more soon. I have two functional businesses that they will inherit, a producing farm and really none of this is your business.

I however did abandon the west because living there made me want to puke. So maybe that has something to do with it.
