I had an experience similar to this. My brothers girlfriend of 9 years was dying from stage 4 non Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her and I were always friends, and probably compatible, but I never tried exploring that for obvious reasons. In the last couple years of her life/their relationship my brother had become emotionally distant and even verbally abusive to her. About a week before she died I was there visiting with her, my brother was working. Long story short, she asked me to have sex with her. It was her dying wish. I didn't do it, I couldn't I never saw her that way and she was my brothers fucking girlfriend at the end of the day. It was a really sad thing to experience. The day before I had sat with her for eight hours while she received chemo, and about a week later while celebrating my birthday she passed out and passed away. I had to watch as EMT used a defibrillator unsuccessfully. Really a sad situation all around.

I'd like to say I wish it was bullshit. At the time it was one of the most traumatic things I've been through. Looking back back, I wouldn't be where I am and who I am today without that catalyst. It was shortly after that, I tried to kill myself with opiates and benzos. Couldn't even do that right I guess, so I decided to keep going. It's eleven years later and I'm happily married and clean from hard drugs. I don't really care if you believe me. Call bullshit if you want. I know exactly how that terrible experience set my life on a path that allowed me the opportunity to be better.
