I'm genuinely curious how a people can handle so many dead.
I would guess most of the 20 million figure happened in the early years, say 42-43ish, at a time when there was mass exodus eastward as well.
What happened with the bodies? Who handled the graves/burials?
I don't have a clue how that would be handled. The most I know is that during the US civil war, the locals would walk the battlefield, and presumably bury the dead at some point, after the soldiers left.
Russia's a big fucking place and they have a history of having really shitty leaders. Stalin didn't care how many of his people died as long as they beat Hitler. The people are also very stoic and cold. I have no idea what happens to the bodies but I assume they buried them in all the land they have. There are a lot of now abandoned soviet mining towns and gulags in Northern russia probably surrounded by bodies. They have had a gruesome history.
Also Stalingrad was hell. I'm sure bodies were lying all over during the war.

That is kind of my impression as well, which would be good to know how the bodies and diseases were handled.
If there is an upcoming internal conflict over all this plandemic paranoia, my thinking is that too many people will not take kindly to each other, and leave any bodies (potentially a lot) just out in the open. Moreso in urban areas, but probably also in more remote areas.
In the remote areas, I would think scavenging animals would take care of things, but the urban settings would become rotting wastelands and that would be a double whammy for anyone occupying nearby.
