Getting started with cryptocurrencies

submitted by 0rion to Crypto 3.4 yearsDec 16, 2021 21:18:31 ago (+6/-0)     (Crypto)

I feel very dumb for asking this...but there is such an abundance of information out there and frankly it seems a bit overwhelming.

I am looking to get into crypto. I currently work a 9-5 job and find myself getting incredibly burnt out. With the crazy inflation we're seeing with the USD, it just feels like I'm getting poorer and poorer. From what I understand, cryptocurrency might be a way of "escaping" that cycle. For someone like me who has a very limited understanding of finance (I was raised by boomers who live and die by the 9-5 lifestyle), where would be a good place to get started?

the simplest way to start is to open a Coinbase account and buy some bitcoin and/or ethereum.

there is a ton of uncertainty right now and it may be a fairly risky time to buy in.

What he said. Its very tricky right now as the markets are heavily manipulated. Technically we are in a downtrend for a few weeks so the prices are good, but its very possible the downtrend accelerates. Also coinbase will rape your anus with fees.

Go on welfare and help break the system. Make your money off the books and use cash locally when you aren't taking crypto to bypass visa and mastercard.

Crypto.com app is pretty simple. It has fees like Coinbase, it just hides them and doesn't call them fees. I use it for the free Spotify.

It'll get your feet wet while you learn about other ways to buy, store, and sell.

I agree there. Gamble a little, because this one has won some people an amazing amount of money (not me, though).

Stick your dick in a light socket first. If you're a girl, stick a fork in one then sit on it.

I have an expansive crypto portfolio and have been in the market for about 8 years. As others have mentioned, the easiest way is to set up a coinbase account. No matter what, buy Bitcoin and Ethereum. Even a few dollars a week. Those are the standards which will never go away. In fact, the whole metaverse boom is being built on the Ethereum blockchain -- so that will be huge. As time goes on you can get into "alt" and "meme" coins. I would join some crypto social media groups to keep on top of trends. And no matter what, look it as a long term investment. Looking at market prices each day will drive you crazy. Buy it and sit on it for a rainy day or retirement. Good luck.
