What kind of filter is that? Would toilet paper work? Is it some unobtainable exotic material? or commonly available?

Great question! I was thinking the same thing. If it would work as a proper filter and what could be filtered out (i.e. fluoride, drug residues, etc)

YES and also A string WOULD work VERY well to TRANSPORT water using THE capillary EFFECT.

Imagine it was the only way, be it without supervision, or maybe if there was more/thicker paper may make it faster? Just a thought following yours. Very limited, but awesome video none the less.

Not sure but it looks like the flow ceased because the wick got too dirty to filter more. Possibly washing it out would start it working again?

just wash it out with the water you filtered.
