There was a huge number of conservative boomers who followed Q, which told me that the Q thing was targeting that demographic. I never had much regard for either conservatives or conservatism, and boomer conservatives are the most useless people in the country.
They confuse traditional values (which I equate with the right wing) with conservatism, but they never conserve, i.e., defend, traditional values, but allowed them to be weakened every time they're accused of something that sounds bad, like "racism" or "homophobia" or "xenophobia" or, worst of all, "anti-semitic". A college student named Atko created voat as a reddit clone. Reddit, led by libtart Ellen Pow, started banning subreddits they didn't like and those users came to voat.
After about a year Atko gave voat to a user by the name of Putitout. A while longer voat was infiltrated by anti-semites and racists. This kind of sucked and really dropped the IQ of voat by about 50 points.
Some say voat received a windfall possibly by Scott Adams though that remains shrouded in mystery.
Voat closed it's doors in December 2020 but a new site cropped up called poal and the person who runs poal claimed to be putitout. Poal is a great quality website but it's very moderator heavy compared to old voat.
Someone created voat.xyz which became talk.lol.
I am 50% convinced that much of the voats are controlled opposition, federal data collection and monitoring assets, etc. The only reason I go on voat is because I can say fuck and shit.
