Anyone here consider storing booze?

Solely as trading fodder. I have started doing so, and only buying shit I would never get into. Who knows, a handle of cheap whiskey could buy a few days worth of food, medicine or ammo. My investment is $12.99 going in, and it keeps, forever.

You should read that 4chan post on the Bosnian war the guy gives great tips. Lighters are the only thing I remember him saying to stock up on and toilet paper I think. Can’t remember the rest of the stuff but it was a great series of posts

Sounds like the shtfschool.com guy (no, I don't get a kickback from him for plugging his program).

He mentions refilling lighters as part of how he got along during the collapse in the former Yugoslavia.

Would love to see the greentexts if anyone has them and his course comes with a PDF, which has a lot of useful information, including considerations for stockpiling items for trade.

I have a coworker who fought in that war. Really good dude. A lot to learn from him.

I’ll never have to bug out. Yeah, might drink it if SHTF.

For disinfecting, I would pick vodka but brown alcohol would likely also do the trick.

151 can still be cheap and is twice the proof in the same size bottle. If shtf, I would party with you.

Wild turkey is the next strongest that is readily available. 110 I think.

Think jailhouse brew. In a disaster nobody cares if they have 100 year old triple malt, they want to forget or sterilize.
Learn to brew and distill, stock the dry ingredients, then you will have real bargaining power, in an apocalyptic situation...

Brewing requires fuel.

I have 2 cases of my fav Rye Whisky stored, along with about 15-20 half gallons of various booze, including Everclear.

BTW, Selco noted to store Garbage bags and guns/ammo a plenty, along with earlier noted Bic lighters (and a way to recharge them off a large propane cylinder) and TP. I've added multiple water filters, water storage, and gas masks to my pile of prep. The water filters are close to the top in importance.

Selco

That's his name. Thanks!

Learn to brew your own booze and you'll always have some.

Requires much time and attention, as well as stockpiles of grain and sugar. I don’t drink doze often, and I buy stuff I wouldn’t drink, that I know others will. I like high end vodka, but I buy cheap shit to store. I figure a $15 plastic handle of bottom shelf crap will be worth four days of food, or maybe some tools, or right to passage across someone’s property or some shit.

Yeah, but you'll always have some. Don't be afraid of a little work.
