Israeli malware company "Kape Technologies" has been on a VPN buying spree, and now owns Express VPN, PrivateInternetAcccess VPN, and CyberGhost VPN.
---
Israeli cybersecurity firm buys ExpressVPN for close to $1 billion.
13 September 2021
Israeli cybersecurity firm Kape Technologies announced on Monday that it was acquiring leading virtual private network provider (VPN) ExpressVPN for $936 million, in one of the biggest buys of a foreign outfit for an Israeli company to date.
Israeli company "Kape Technologies" (formerly known as Crossrider) is owned by Israeli billionaire Teddy Sagi, and has a history of injecting malware into people's computers.
Yes, there is proof. There were a number of posts on old Voat about it. Go to search Voat and look for Kape, you can probably find a few posts about it.
Does anyone really still use VPN in order to "hide" these days?
Companies are massively recording and analyzing browser, software, operating system and hardware fingerprints.
Thus, they can recognize and identify a user's fingerprints wherever he comes from. This can be prevented, but requires some knowledge and a careful setup.
The message here is: Do not use commercial VPN services for doing things you would not do without VPN. Hiding with VPN is a scam and does mostly not work. Even if it is not a scam, the VPN-company may bot be able to prevent their traffic being analyzed by third parties.
I only started using a VPN to access things I couldn't where I am geographically. For instance, I'm learning Russian, so when I set my VPN to Ukraine (there are no servers in Russia) I can watch their version of the BBC...usually anyways... But stuff like that. I, like you, understand there's no "hiding" at this point. There's probably an AI version of "me" that, even if my traffic can be hidden, my actions can be put together regardless...I'm not even worried about it.
NO. ProtonVPN/NordVPN is located in Lithuania, whose government mandates 6 months of logs, and they literally share a building and staff with Tesonet, which is a data mining company. The CEO literally confirmed this himself: https://archive.is/yrtp1
The backdoor is in the root cert providers - because the certs are chains, compromised roots means the everything that follows will be compromised, and LITERALLY EVERY root cert provider is proven to be compromised by jews through at least one scandal.
Ties to TESONET might have stuck but they had to throw in Lithuania in there, that aged badly because you can verify yourself it's bullshit. The rest is hyperbole.
that was a smear campaign by that Andrew Lee faggot
No, this was admitted info from the Nord/ProtonVPN CEO himself - I archived the source: https://archive.is/yrtp1
I also gave all required links needed to verify all aspects of this (e.g. the Lithuanian business directory, the Swiss business directory, the officer listings, etc) in the post.
reposting garbage from old voat doesn't make it true
No, the easily verifiable evidence makes it true.
that aged badly because you can verify yourself it's bullshit.
Again, I gave all required links needed to verify all aspects of this in the post.
The original post has cited links to the business registries showing NordVPN is an alias of ProtonVPN.
You're so wrong
Haven't been wrong yet, whilst you've been wrong some 4 or 5 times in just 3 replies. Again, I have provided evidence, you have provided twitter searches.
Unless you can come up with some evidence to refute what I've posted, I'm done with you.
You're gonna pretend you didn't get the company and title wrong? What else are you clueless about?
The original post has cited links to the business registries showing NordVPN is an alias of ProtonVPN.
No such thing, you made that up based on Andrew Lee's lies, same asshole who hijacked freenode. He retracted all those comments and nobody worth a shit brought it up since, not a single investigative journalist, only useful idiots that can't even get the company names right.
Why don't you attack proton's responses? Too technical for you? Is Siemens and Red Bull an alias of Tesonet too? (https://files.catbox.moe/nb3y8v.jpg) they're in the same building after all.
You're gonna pretend you didn't get the company and title wrong?
No need to pretend - I didn't. As a matter of fact, not knowing that the two names are DBAs for the same company in different countries is something you were wrong about.
No such thing, you made that up based on Andrew Lee's lies,
The business registry you moron. Anyone can look in it.
Is Siemens and Red Bull an alias of Tesonet too? they're in the same building after all.
They don't share staff, unlike Tesonet and ProtonVPN Ltd, as the CEO admitted on both Reddit and in the Hackernews link.
All you have is Tesonet handling employment for their subsidiary until they got off the ground, company admin had to be a resident. They don't even share an office building anymore.
Claiming that they share staff is a misrepresentation of facts, HR was outsourced, not the product, they never used Tesonet's servers, ever. Claims of Tesonet IP blocks being used is verifiably false. The APK cert's organization field was an early subsidiary fuckup, they already explained that and makes sense considering how it was operated back then.
More importantly: no evidence of actual data mining, just a smear campaign and guilt by association, that angle only works when you connect the ceo with CIA/military/government, guy is a discount data analytics ceo.
The law mandates the backdoor, and the FBI performs routine unannounced audits, and makes arrests for noncompliance. The internet and all it's standard protocols were invented by us, and thus all are compliant (reminder that the OpenVPN library uses SSL for it's security).
Ergo, if the company exists and is providing a 'security' solution to you (that they didn't write their own stack for), their solution is also compliant. Do more research into this.
------------
As a fun fact, the company which first provided CALEA interdiction appliances (the jargon for the backdoors) back in 1994 is Comverse Infosys, the same Israeli company later revealed in declassified documents to have been involved in 9/11. If this is interesting to you, I'll upload the source - you won't find it on the internet (generally you won't find any declassified anything with search engines).
They already know who we are. The only real protections we have at this point are A) we're small fish and B) They don't have legally admissible proof of our identities.
The first only protects us as long as there's bigger fish to be concerned about and the second only lasts as long as we don't identify ourselves explicitly and they don't change the laws on what's admissible evidence.

With some VPNs, you can pay via cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), etc.

Also, any VPN which uses the OpenVPN library on the backend (which is all of them) are backdoored by design, as mandated by the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communications_Assistance_for_Law_Enforcement_Act

NordVPN has nothing to do with ProtonVPN. Besides, Proton has subsidiaries all over the world, Lithuania was never their main HQ.
You're so wrong it's starting to feel like you're losing on purpose to make it look like two astroturfers are going at eachother.
