If god put me in the foxhole, im gonna get myself out alive, he clearly doesnt have my best interest in mind. If god decided the evil that permeates the world is cool in his book, im gonna write my own, with the blood of degenerates. Maybe theres a better god out there that hasnt forsaken the decent people, i encourage them to reach out to me and make me a disciple. Cuz the god of judea isnt my god.
Well Im an atheist, but I understand why faith in god may be an advantage in a time like this.
In the old days, people had a strong belief that if they suffered or died for what they believed in, they would be rewarded in the afterlife. People are afraid to stand up to tyrrany because they dont believe there’s any ultimate justice or reward for doing so. It makes people hopeless and fearful.
Belief in god or the supernatural didn’t crop up in different societies for no reason. It appears to be a survival advantage.
