What was the last thing you made by hand, goats?

submitted by NeedleStack to ArtsAndCrafts 2.7 yearsAug 4, 2021 12:30:32 ago (+8/-0)     (ArtsAndCrafts)

Was it functional or decorative? What was your project and how'd you go about it?

Last thing I did was cut up one of my husband's worn out cotton tees (the kind you wear under your work shirts) and made cleaning rags out of it.

I cut the rags to size (into four or five small rectangles) and hand-sewed all around the edges. They work great and are cleanable and reusable. I'm trying to ween off of wasteful paper towels and the rags have helped with that.

Thanks for this question.
I made a crossbow for my 5 year old grandson.
1x4 pine for the stock and bamboo for the bow.
Bowstring 500 lbs test kevlar.
Split bamboo arrows.
Painters tape for the feathers
He can pull it back , maybe 5-10 pound pull.
Sharpened points of bamboo penetrate well.
Couldn't pull arrow out of basement door jamb. Tip broke off.
Good for him hunting apples in the back yard.

Do you think he'd like to go squirreling and get some skinning practice in?

[ - ] zongongo 2 points 2.7 yearsAug 4, 2021 13:28:41 ago (+2/-0)

Maybe not yet but he is interested in hunting. Fancies himself a soldier. Fancies himself a Sargeant and me a Private.
We've fished but not cleaned a fish yet.
I think that would be a better starting point. I don't want to turn him off to any of this kind of stuff by freaking him out.
So far he's a little soldier !

Yeah, you're right; I reckon a 5 year old would better handle the concept by first watching you clean a fish. You can always progress from there.

I made a Faraday cage out of copper to keep my cell phone in when I don't use it. Some parts came from the chain of an old lamp, and some came from thin copper threads that I braided.

It doesn't look terrible and it's functional.

Ingenious. I love seeing how men problem solve mechanically.

https://files.catbox.moe/bys751.jpg This feeder. Roof is a piece of ridge left over from a metal roof, tray is 1x2's with a floor of hardware cloth and metal window screen so any rain will drain through. Bonus blue jay.

That's great! Birdies want more suet, pops.

[ - ] mumbleberry 2 points 2.7 yearsAug 4, 2021 13:22:10 ago (+2/-0)

Ya, took pic right before refilling. There's a downy woodpecker that loves the suet.

Building a house. Yesterday we built two side walls, today one front wall with the gable.

I put some cleats on a new trailer I got. New safety chains and tailgate fasteners as well. Lookin to take apart my desk and raise it a few inches to better fit my new chair. Already have the equipment, waiting on it to not be as hot as satan's sweaty sack.

Just sewed a bandana for my doggo. He's not a fan of it yet though.
