That's fair to point, as it assumes each generation has a numerical superiority as it matures. For gen X, possibly in the first time in US history, this was not the case. Even today, as Boomers have begun dying off, they still outnumber Gen Xers. Not to mention that the demographic change came about at the exact time the GenXers were being born (1965). By the time the entire generation was able to vote (1998), even as a bloc of votes, there was 33 years of destruction already present.

It is going to take another 10 years of Boomers croaking off before gen X will outnumber their parents generation and can try to undo what they did. At that point, the oldest of us will 66 years old. We have been a minority our entire working lives.
