Asking for the intercession of the men and woman who have gone before us into the Kingdom of Heaven is not the same thing as going to a medium or using an ouija board.
Revelation 8:3-4- “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.”
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
In this life. Enoch, Elijah, and Moses were translated. The dead sleep, nowhere in scripture does it say otherwise. The idea of an immortal soul which casts off it’s meat shell and floats up to heaven is Greek philosophy, not the word of God.
Clearly we shouldn’t have started with the Assumption if we’re this far apart theologically haha. Soul sleep is false teaching, the Church teaches that the departed are judged upon death and will be reunited with their bodies again at the end times.
I have to get back to wagecucking, but quickly I will demonstrate the saints in Heaven in scripture off the top of my head. In the book of Revelation the angles and 24 elders (these are saints) are seen offering prayers and incense up to God, additionally elsewhere in Revelation the martyrs ask the Lord when they will be avenged.
18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
