millionshort.com search engine is kiked. It was a good search engine, but now they want a paid subscription to use it. RIP.

Video 8 by Sony is the proof that Big Tech are idiots     (technology)

In the XX century there were many video cassette formats.

The most popular three were:

Video 2000 by Philips.

Betamax by Sony.

VHS by JVC.

All three had bad resolution and were huge. Also, the Video 2000 by Philips was the most retarded video cassette, because you had to switch sides to watch movies, like with music cassettes.

Sony invented a perfect video cassette, Video 8. It was of the small size like music cassettes and had better video resolution than anybody else.

Guess what? The Big Tech companies voted for VHS by JVC to become the standard video cassette instead of the Video 8 by Sony for no technical reason. They did it just because.

Here's a cool project I stumbled upon last night.

Its a search instance that runs on localhost. Installs by copy pasting the git clone installation instruction. I routed its queries through SPN.

The US layout for keyboard is worse than UE     (technology)

I've always used the EU keyboards. The enter key was big and very comfortable. Now I'm using the US keyboard, and the enter key is so small, it's annoying as hell. I always confuse it with the caps key.

Anybody else noticed this?

Facing Cable Cord-Cutting, Cities Fight to Tax Broadband     (www.aei.org)

https://www.aei.org/technology-and-innovation/facing-cable-cord-cutting-cities-fight-to-tax-broadband/

Broadband has been a bright spot in America’s grim inflationary landscape. While consumer prices rose 4.9 percent last year, two recent reports show that consumer broadband prices fell, both in absolute terms and cost per gigabyte. But where many see a victory, some cities sense an opportunity. Stung by declining cable franchise fees, local governments are pushing to tax broadband. This effort faces severe regulatory headwinds, but if successful could erode consumer gains and drive broadband prices higher.

MalwareBytes staff warned that pomf2.lain.la image host is compromised. I have posted them blocked links, and after checking they said it's not a false positive, but real threats. They said that the site owners are not really that efficient at removing threats.

They siggested to use alternative image hosts at the moment.

I use a smartwatch for fitness and backup communication. Paired to my shockz bone conducting ear phones it makes for a light comm package. Battery is definetly 3 day between charges. Bands are comfortable and easy to change. Wear os is better than tizen but I miss the old Korean hardware language. Side loaded the blood pressure app and some other crap to give me warning when my body needs to ease up.

I would recommend this watch even over the ultra.

Google illegally maintains monopoly over internet search, judge rules     (www.mercurynews.com)

WASHINGTON (AP) — A judge on Monday ruled that Google’s ubiquitous search engine has been illegally exploiting its dominance to squash competition and stifle innovation in a seismic decision that could shake up the internet and hobble one of the world’s best-known companies.

The highly anticipated decision issued by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta comes nearly a year after the start of a trial pitting the U.S. Justice Department against Google in the country’s biggest antitrust showdown in a quarter century.

After reviewing reams of evidence that included testimony from top executives at Google, Microsoft and Apple during last year’s 10-week trial, Mehta issued his potentially market-shifting decision three months after the two sides presented their closing arguments in early May.

“After having carefully considered and weighed the witness testimony and evidence, the court reaches the following conclusion: Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly,” Mehta wrote in his 277-page ruling.
