I get that he lied to the client to get back at his employer that fired him. I assume the client contacted your employer and informed them of what they were told. If the client didn’t pull the plug right then, then they haven’t decided that they believe him.
I’m guessing your employer is investigating themselves on the clients behalf, or maybe it’s a joint investigation? I don’t see how looking into his claims would ruin the project and cost jobs. Unless whatever the guy told the client was true.

They got the kid from some dickhead country at the age of 11. No one told them the kid was rescued from the sex trade. As soon as they got him home, he started raping. The children of his adopted parents first. He escaped his garage prison and stole panties from a neighbor.
This was many years ago. Charges against the parents were dropped. What saved them were the boxes of records they had in which they requested help from the state. They said he needed to be locked up, but the state ignored them. The kid was found to be too insane to stand trial for burglary. Hopefully, he’s lock up in an asylum some where.
It would have been embarrassing for the state if they tried the parents for keeping him locked up. So they dropped all charges. The states incompetence and indifference would have been revealed. Andy was paying north of 100k a year to keep him in a private institution until he couldn’t afford it. So they locked him up themselves. Texas kept telling him he made too much money to get any assistance.
After this story broke, we understood why Andy always looked beaten down and had no sense of humor. He had adopted a foreign psychopath.
