I am completely divorced from my family and most of my friends because of my political position. I just had a debate with my roommates about race relations in the U.S. and they became so upset that I was not invited out with them, like I normally would be. I firmly believe that my position is rooted in truth and will not deviate from it just so I can have friends, but doing so does make life lonely.
