Doesn't matter.
Almost 40% of the current submarine force is non-operational because they can't field crews competent to operate and maintain the boats.
Seems fifteen years of aggressive DEI have seriously eroded our fleet readiness.

god damb, you beat me too it....

"I can't find kids that are smart enough, skinny enough and motivated enough..." Some random sub fleet admiral a year ago..

Just read that only 7 destroyers in the seventh fleet (out of almost 40) are currently operational... Bremerton sub fleet is parked at the dock, only three of the eight seawolf attack subs are currently manned, but they are all in perfect, operational condition. Sure hope china doesn't red dawn the west coast... wouldn't that suprize everyone?

I wonder just how much of this is due to greed an incompetence and how much is due to tactical obsolescence. The calvary used to rule the field. Now horses are only used in parades. It seems pretty logical that an advanced ariel unit will eventually replace any need for naval ships. All the interest in UFOs in recent years at highest levels of elected government tends to suggest that this might actually be the case.

I'm not entirely sure which would scenario would be better. Either it's us and various technologically advanced black projects are finally bubbling to the surface of public awareness. Or, it's some alien race of bug-eyed tentacle monsters who are only here to kidnap and sodomize children and harvest their DNA. It's getting really hard to tell the difference these days.

Maybe THIS has something to do with it:

https://maritime-executive.com/article/darpa-unveils-manta-ray-uncrewed-extended-duration-undersea-vessel

which begs the question, How did THIS get built?

Because the companies DARPA contracted with to build it aren't bound by DEI regulations, I'm guessing.

There is a corporate distinction o greed but there is also a distinction I highly suspect is caused by the DEI that has been permeating is companies for decades.
